Common Room

I sat in the common room after I had gotten settled in my room. I started writing my letter to my parents.

Mom dad,
I share a room with a few other girls. Girls don't typically like me but a girl whose last name is Johnson seems alright. I might try to be nice to her seeing as she attempted to make me feel at easy. I am all unpacked and ready to start classes in the morning. Thank you for getting me the owl. He was here when I arrived. I have decided to call him Orion. I hope he makes the trip to you all quickly. I wanted to let you both know I wasn't placed in Slytherin like I had hoped for instead I was placed in Gryffindor. I hope this doesn't come as too much of a shock. I had hoped to have been able to tell you I was in slytherin. I can't wait for Christmas break. Are we doing anything special this year? I love you both.
Love,
Y/n
I folded the letter and placed it into an envelope making sure to properly seal it before handing it to Orion who sat on the window sill of the common room. I sat back down by the fire to read a little before bed but the twins decided to make an appearance. They sit beside me and start asking about my owl.
"It was a present from my parents," I replied.
"Why'd they send you a present already," George asked.
"Yea, it's not your birthday is it," asked Fred.
"No, it's not my birthday. My parents just do things to benefit them," I answered, "You see this owl is so they can get faster replies from me. The school owls sometimes get busy or held up. Orion goes straight home."
"Ah," they both seemed to say as I started to walk away.
"Goodnight, y/n," Fred called after you.
"Don't let the bugs bite," George laughed.
I walked up the steps to my dorm. I was the last one to lay down for the night and couldn't seem to get any sleep. I tossed and turned for the longest time and when I finally woke it was due to Orion pecking at my head. The dreaded moment I had been awaiting since last night came far to early for my liking. I took a shower and got dressed in my robes it wasnt as comfortavle as the clothes i typically wear but it was required. I walked down to the common room and slumped down on the couch with the letter in my hand. My name is written across the front in my mothers handwriting. I feel like thats a bad sign. Normally, my father writes any letters that need to be sent out since my mother writes like a snail trying to get across a hot paved road. Should I open it now or wait to after class.
"Well go on open it," I heard one of the twins say.
"Yea, it can't be that bad," the other replied adding something about it not being a howler.
"I'm going to wait till after classes. I think I need to focus on my studies first," I said scrunching up my face.
The boys seemed to be puzzled by that remark but shrugged their shoulders walking off to class.

A/n: I wanted to get another update in before I headed to bed sorry if it seems super short but at least it's an update. I should have another update in roughly 12 hours. But if not I will update on Thanksgiving.
