Chapter 4 - New friends

~Thursday~

-Eyelyn's POV-

I slide out of my bed grabbed my clothes I had chosen the night before. I opened my door and walked towards the bathroom. I tried to open the door but I couldn't, I put a little more force behind my shove but it still didn't budge.

I knocked on it expecting my mum to answer but instead I heard "occupied" I didn't know who it was and it startled me.

"Umm, Hello?" I replied into the door.

"Yeah I'll be out in a minute" they replied.

'Oh it's Preston' I thought.

"Well hurry up" I yelled into the door again.

Once Preston finally came out of the bathroom. I used it, once I had finished I walked down stairs to see my mum and Preston talking in the kitchen.

"K, bye" I said as I started to walk out the door.

I saw Lachlan standing on the footpath waiting for me. I was about to step out the door when someone grabbed my backpack and pulled me back into the house.

"You will walk to school with Preston" my mum strictly told me.

"Ok" I replied as I begain to walk out the door again.

I walked out the door with Preston close behind me.

"Lachlan this is Preston. Preston, Lachlan. Lachlan, Preston." I introduced them to each other and we begain to walk to school.

"So Preston were are you from?" Lachlan asked.

"Texas" he replied.

"Eye" Lachlan said turning his attention to me "sorry I didn't walk home with you yesterday, I was catching up with some friends" he continued.

"You have other friends?" I asked smugly.

"Shut up" he said, shoving me into Preston. We both nearly face planted into the concrete.

"Would you two like to meet them?" He asked me and Preston. "There's only two so it shouldn't be to overwhelming" he continued.

"Yeah ok" Preston replied, "sure why not" I added on.

"Cool, We sit down at the picnic table near the drama and dance rooms, meet you there at lunch" he waved as he walked off towards his class. We had arived at school a few minutes ago.

I walked Preston to the office to get his time table. I walked him to his class then I walked to mine. When I walked into the class I told the teacher why I was late and sat down in my chair.

I noticed that there was someone sitting in the normaly empty chair. I slowly leaned over and said "Hi, are you new?"

He quickly leaned over and replied "Yeah and you are?"

"Eyelyn, you?" I asked.

"Vikk" He replied. We both went back to doing work.

-Lunch-

I walked down the stairs to the drama and dance rooms. There I saw Lachlan and two other boys standing / sitting at the picnic table.

"Heyo" I yelled to gain there attention.

They all turned there heads, Lachlan ran over and pulled me towards the table.

"Eyelyn this is Jerome" he said pointing to a tall ish male with brown hair sitting on the picnic table. "And this is Rob" he said pointing to another tall male with brown hair sitting next to Jerome.

"Hi, nice to meet you both" I said "where's Preston?" just as I said that Preston came running down the stairs.

When he got to the bottom of the stairs he stopped. He was frozen.

I ran over to were he was stuck and yelled "earth to Preston" right in his ear.

He jumped a little but then continued to walk over to the picnic table, I was close behind him.

"Preston, this is Jerome and Rob" Lachlan introduced.

We all sat down and started an awkward conversation, well for me at least.

"So Eyelyn, you gonna have a party when your mum leaves tomorrow?" Lachlan asked trying to break the awkward silence. I nearly cried. To be honest I completely forgot she was leaving tomorrow morning.

"I'm sorry but did you just say 'mum'?" Preston interrupted. That made me laugh so hard.

"What do you mean?" Lachlan asked, he was so oblivious.

"The correct pronunciation is MOM" Preston yelled back at Lachlan.

"Ok, Preston the correct way is mum" I said standing up and contributing to the argument.

"Nah nah, it's mom" Jerome contributed.

Rob finally stood up and yelled "all of you calm down. But mum is correct".

The bell rang so we all parted ways. Lachlan informed me that we wouldn't be walking together but it's ok I can walk with Preston.

-After school-

Me and Preston were halfway home when I decided to break the silence. "Sooooo, why did you freak out when we meet Lachlan's friends?" I questioned, I knew when we got home we'd have to help my mum pack.

"Oh, ummm, I didn't freak out" he replied, his face instantly hitting a nice shade of red.

"Sure" I giggled.

"I didn't freak out, ok?" he yelled as he looked away from me to try an hide his red face.

"Ok" I replied as I walked up to the front door and started to unlock it.

We walked into the living room to see my mum frantically running around the room picking stuff up and putting it back down in a different place.

"Mum you ok?" I asked as we walked over to her.

"Oh your home, I'm moving today" she replied as she kept running around.

"WHAT!" I screamed a the top of my lungs.

"Yeah, I'm leaving in now" she replied.

She picked up her bag and headed for the door. The door flung open, she ran out and called a cab. The cab arrived in seconds. The second she got in the cab it speed away towards the airport.

"Wow, what a bitch. She didn't even say goodbye, she's always cared more about her work than me" I screamed as I ran upstairs leaving Preston alone.
