Alisha sat down at the dinner table, looking uneasily at her mom.

"Well... did he do it?" Ms. Evans asked.

Alisha looked down sharply, and she felt a wave of sadness rush through her.

"Yeah, he did."

Alisha sobbed. She planted her head in between her arms and felt the soft touch of her mother.

"Sweetie, you can visit him anytime-"

"I don't trust him," Alisha cried.

"Who? The doctor? I know we haven't had the best relationship, but you can trust me, okay? Everything will be okay. This is a breakthrough in medical science, it could change the world, Alisha. It was his choice."

"I don't give a damn if it was his choice!" Alisha yelled.

Ms. Evans felt a single tear run down her cheek. She wiped it away.

"I know this is hard for you sweetie, but we will see him soon-"

"I don't care," Alisha muttered. "I don't like this at all."

"I need you to see my perspective, Alisha. He agreed to do it."

Alisha angrily opened her mouth to reply, but she suddenly heard shrieks and screams outside. Both of them rushed to the door and yanked it open.

"What's wrong? What's happening?" Alisha asked urgently.

She heard a voice and pounding steps running down the sidewalk. "Alisha!"
