GRANT BECAME QUIET AFTER LEAVING D.C.
He barely spoke to me as we got on the plane, but was constantly on the phone talking to people that he said was his coworkers to assure plans of action. He used talk that he knew I wouldn't understand and wouldn't ask about because we weren't that couple that always looked over each other's shoulder because we trusted each other. We had no secrets.

I glanced over at him as he leaned against his seat, his eyes focused on the world outside, before reaching for his hand, interlocking our fingers. He turned to me and I smiled a bit, "What's on your mind?"

"Oddly enough, it's you," He admitted, rubbing his eyes with his other hand when I give him a confused face, "Raylin, I-"

"Wait," I interrupted, "Before you go on to say that I shouldn't have come and it's all your fault, just know that it's not. I chose to come, it was my choice."

"I know it was your choice, but-"

"No, Grant," I argued, "There is no 'but', alright?" He meets my eyes and nods, bringing intertwined hands to kiss the back of mine, "Plus, I've never been to Scotland and I know for sure that it beats traveling to New York. I heard there are aliens there."

He laughed at my joke and I smiled widely, happy to see he wasn't so deep in his thoughts anymore, "I'm so tired."

"Well this was a nine hour flight," I inform him and he hummed as leaned his head on me, letting his eyes slip close.

"Pardon the interruption, we are now arriving in Edinburgh," The pilot says over the intercom and I chuckle when Grant groaned, "Pardon the interruption, we are now arriving in Edinburgh."

"Rise and shine, sleepy head," I mumbled in his ears and he frowned as he sat up, "Do you have to head straight to the office or are you coming with me to our room?"

"I think I have to go straight there." He grunted, but I nodded, yawning slightly, "I'll be really busy, so I might come late."

"Alright, that's fine," I hummed and soon enough we got off of the plane. I groaned, rubbing my neck as we were leaving the airport, "I think I have jet lag."

Grant chuckled lightly, wrapping his arm over my shoulder, "Well get as much sleep as you can because I don't think we're staying here."

I let out a soft whimper, "And to think I was going to tour Scotland."

He rubbed my shoulder and looked down at me, "Maybe we can come back and-"

"Steve!" I heard someone yell out from behind us and I turn back when Grant did, seeing two people come up to us, "Hey Cap!"

"Did you ask for a AirBnB instead?" I asked, but he only nodded briefly.

He then mumbled a curse under his breath before looking ahead at the man and woman, "I thought I told you guys to meet me there?"

"Yeah, but Wanda isn't answering her phone and she went off the grid," The woman explained, watching Grant's arm move off of me, "We needed to catch you when you got off."

"Yeah, but this couldn't have waited?" He asked motioning his head over to me.

The two people look at me and I furrowed my brows as I noticed they looked awfully familiar. The man then looks at Grant again as the woman nods her head at me, "They're going to come here. They want Vision."

Vision, I thought to myself. Why did the name seem familiar too? I shake my head a little and held out my hand to them, "Hi, I'm Raylin."

"Oh, so she's the girl," The man smirked and I glance at Steve as he tensed up when the man shook my hand, "Samuel, and that's Nat."

"You guys are Grant's coworkers?" I asked, but still trying to examine them.

They both furrowed their brows at me but Sam smirked, "Yes," Nat simply told me before looking at Grant again, "We have to go, now, Grant."

He then glanced at me again, "But-"

"Hey, it's fine," I assured him, "I can go to our room by myself. I always knew there was a reason to learn Gaelic." He gave a small smile when I reached up and pecked his lips, "Just stay safe, okay? I'll see you there when you get back."

He nodded before his friends quickly walked off and he hesitated to follow behind because he kept looking back at me. I waved at him until he was out of my sight and I was turning on my heels to go to our AirBnB. I had put on my music after I got me a cab, but I couldn't get their faces out of my head. It wasn't until I got to our room until they were pushed to the back of my mind because I saw their tub and couldn't wait to get in.

Our AirBnB was beautiful, but I couldn't focus on anything but Grant. This is my first time actually joining him on the job, mainly because everything he dealt with wasn't as huge as this. And if it was, he wouldn't let me go, coming up with a thousand reasons for me to stay. I was used to him traveling because he told me about it before we even started dating, but it felt odd tagging along.

I fell asleep quickly after my bath, not even trying to fix me something to eat, but I jumped up when I heard the door the bedroom creak open, "It's me." I heard and I instantly relaxed, knowing it was Grant by his voice.

I rubbed my eyes as he came up to me, but I glanced over at the time, "It's 2 in the morning?"

"Yeah, I was so caught up with work," He huffed out, but went over to my bags.

"Well, come lay down," I pat the bed for him to come over, "This bed is so-"

"Actually, I can't- we can't," He told me and I furrowed my brows, "We have to go."

"Already?" I asked, but sighed, "I knew I shouldn't have gotten comfortable."

"Yeah, they're already on the move," Grant explained putting my bags by the door as I slipped on my shoes. Though before I could stand, he crouched down in front of me, causing me to see him in a all black attire that I had never seen him in before.

"You look sexy," I whispered playfully and he smiled a little before pulling out a pill, "What's that for?"

"It's to help you go back to sleep during our ride," He explained, holding it out to me, "A few of my coworkers are going to join us and it's going to be a long way to New York, so I thought you'd want this."

"How sweet," I kissed his cheek, before I took the pill gratefully and down it with a water bottle that he quickly grabbed from the bedside table to give me. He stands up and holds out his hands to me, which I raised a brow at, before reluctantly taking them, so he could pull me up. Though when I got to my feet, it felt like the floor beneath me was gone, causing me to fall into Grant.

"You're okay," He whispered, but I couldn't respond to him or panic as I my body grew numb and my eyes became heavy to the point where I heard or saw nothing quickly after.
