I FELT SICK TO MY STOMACH
when I slowly woke up from my sleep. I placed my hand on my head, drowsiness hitting me like a truck, causing me to groan loud.

"Hey, you're up," I heard and glanced up to see Grant, with a glass of water, "That plane ride here really got to you."

"I don't even remember getting on a plane," I grunted, taking the cup and downing it before looking around a room that was mainly grey and white all around, "Where are we?"

"New York," He told me, "But at a off the grid base station for right now. I can take you to a hotel in a bit, when you feel better."

I furrowed my brows, but when I did, I got a headache, "It feels like the time I got drunk on my birthday last year and woke up with a killer hangover."

"You want me to make you something to eat?" He asked and I slowly shook my head, laying back down after giving him the glass, "I'll just wake you up when I find us a hotel, okay?"

I only hummed in response before closing my eyes and letting my headache go down as I heard him leave the room. Though once he did leave, I couldn't go to sleep because for my bothering thoughts. How did we get here? What time is it? What kind of pill did he give me?

I groaned again, and sat up slowly before getting out of the bed. I looked around the room again, but looked out the window to see nothing but trees and water that stretched out farther than I could see. I furrowed my brows, but left the room to go down the hallway to find Grant. Once I made it out of the hallway, the interior was massive and the ceiling was untouchable from how high it was. I briefly looked up, amazed, but kept wandering in hopes to find him in a simple place.

For a base, it was awfully quiet. I didn't try to pay much attention to it, though, especially when I heard a few voices in the distance, "I can't believe this, Steve."

"What can't you believe?"

"That you were the first person to say not to get too comfortable with things, but here you are!" I heard as I got closer, soon finding that it was coming from the kitchen, "You brought this girl along on our mission."

"I couldn't lie to her, alright?" I heard Grant then say, causing me to furrow my brows and lean against the wall to listen.

"What was one more lie going to do, Steve? You've already been keeping your entire life a secret for two years, how hard could this have been?" I then recognized that voice as Nat before she went on, "God, you even went as far as to drug her to keep her from knowing who you are."

"I did it to protect her."

"You're not protecting her, Steve," She remarked, "The day you chose to be with her and move in, she was in danger. How come you're the only one not seeing this?"

Hesitantly, I pushed myself off of the wall and stand in the doorway, meeting Nat's eyes first before Sam's, who motioned to Grant for him to look behind him as his back faced me. When he turned around, he looked at me and groaned, rubbing his temple.

"I think I'm going to leave," I mustered out, quickly turning on my heels to go back to the room I was in. My head was suddenly spinning with questions that I couldn't answer myself.
