The bell rings, as the class starts to stand up to leave the teacher yells "hey! Where do you all think you're doing, the bell doesn't dismiss you I do." She takes a long pause and says "Now you're dismissed".
As Jaden walks to the door, the teacher Miss. Kimberly stops Jaden and says "Hey nice job on the pop quiz". Thanks, Jaden says as he continues to walk out the door searching for Lauren.
"There she she is" , he says while walking over to her as she sits on the school bench looking over her quiz.
Hi Lauren. Jaden says. What's with the confused look, is that the quiz from today? How did you do?
I passed it, I made a 100. Lauren says.
Okay so what's with the face, shouldn't you be happy, Jaden replies.
Yeah but I just don't get it, how did you know that it was gonna be a pop quiz?
I told you yesterday that I can read minds remember, I mean actually you figured it out yourself but I told you before you can get it out your mouth because I read your mind.
Jaden, how..how? That my question, how do you, you know read minds? Are you an alien or something? Did you come from another planet? She ask.
Jaden replies, "Yeah, another planet called New York." Look i don't know how I can read minds, one day I woke up and I was just as confused as you were...probably even more. It was scary and I hated it, I had headaches all the time because I couldn't stop listening to everyone thoughts at once.
Imagine talking to someone and listening to every thought they said about you, or being in a building full of people and just hearing constant talking, I tried so hard to understand it but I don't. I just started controlling it, now I can limit the thoughts to one person if I want at my command.
Have you talk to anyone about this, did you go to a doctor. Lauren ask.
No, I thought about it but nobody will believe me. They'll probably think I'm crazy. Why do you even care, because of my ability you passed a pop quiz. I haven't heard a thank you not even once.
You know what forget it, forget that I told you anything. Jaden starts to walk off to the outside of the school on the way to the bus stop.
Lauren says, Jay I'm not mad or anything I'm kinda amazed. I never knew a human being could be able to read minds, I thought it was only in the movies.

Anyways ignoring that last remark, Lauren continues but yeah it was that song. I can't get it out of my head. That's really amazing tho, do you have any other powers?
Umm. I don't know, I'm hoping not. I just got use to this one and learned how to control it so another power would be like starting all over again.
Oh, well have you thought about what you are gonna use your power for. Like are you gonna be a hero...ooo I know, you remember the girl Stacey that went missing last week. They think they have the guys that did it.
Okay..that's great, they deserve jail. Jaden says.
That's if they go to jail. Lauren replies.
What do you mean if they go to jail, if they kidnapped her they're going to jail.
Jaden the guy won't talk to the cops, he will be let go if they don't have the evidence to keep him.
Walking over to a snack machine, Jaden looks over to Lauren saying "okay what does that have to do with me"
Well, Lauren says. With your power you can read his mind while the detective ask him questions. They think she's being held somewhere against her will, you can figure out where by listening to him.
No no no no no. If someone like detectives finds out about me, I'm done. Black vans, helicopters, news media's...the CIA do you know what they'll do to me.
Inserting his money into the vending
machine he says, Lauren no one can know about this. Not even my dad. Okay?
Okay I guess. She replies
(Lauren thoughts- he haven't told his dad)
No I haven't told my dad, I'll let him know when I'm ready. Jaden responds.
Can you not ready my mind without my permission, thank you. Lauren replies
Sorry I just had to make sure we were clear.
Now what do I want from this machine, oh the cup cakes look good. C6 he presses the buttons. The cups cakes begin to fall and gets stuck half way.
Are you kidding me! Dammit, stupid machine he says as he starts to punch the glass of the vending machine
Lauren yells, Jaden no!
Jaden turns to Lauren, stating "what I'm hungry"
Then Lauren starts to gasp in shock.
Jaden turns to figure what is Lauren staring at that's when he notice fist have fazed through the machine as if he was a ghost.
In amazement he pulls back his hand, brings it up to his face, and starts to open and close it then opens it again.
What in the hell, he says while trying to understand.
He then turns around to Lauren, as they both stare in shock at each other.
