Eleutheromania - An intense and irresistible desire for freedom

There was tension thick in the air whenever the two were in close proximity. Jennifer being the taller of the two would glare down at Diana while the shorter one glanced up emotionlessly. This went on for a while. Long looks of hatred but an underlying emotion that I couldn't decipher yet.

The mystery of these two was always at the forefront of everybody's mind. Multiple different scenarios of why they didn't like each other arose from time to time but each one was dismissed fast. No one wanted to be on the receiving end of Jennifer's reaction if the wrong truth was told.

The truth was; no one knew if anything happened at all.

Illecebrous - Alluring, enticing

By keen observation and critical evaluation of the two girls that were in my class; I decided for my own benefit and for everyone else sanity, I had to find out what was the reasoning behind their looks and distant feeling. The first step was separately gathering my opinion on them.

Jennifer - Other than the obvious Pulchritudinous, her voice is mellifluous and gentle, one can only imagine the modelic sound she would make whilst singing. Her style is in sync with her personality, which is gerful but also soulful in the sense that when she talks to people her eyes express the genuine interest she has on the subject. Her eyes are from planet chocolate but seem laced with a solemn expression, which is in contrast with her smile that only expresses the playfulness a child has, this emphasises the innocent and carefree way about her but shows she also can be careless and destructive when she doesn't get her own way.

Diana - The first thing I noticed was that she was hyper loquacious, secretive, but open. Cute but kind of goofy, intrepid in the sense she isn't afraid to say or do what she wants. Judging from her tanned skin I would she has heliophilia- desire to stay in the sun. Kind and loyal hearted but also up for a good time so I wouldn't quite take her too seriously. Easily likeable but also easily hated, a required taste I think, like parsnips.

Personally I think they would get along well. There are parts that juxtapose but they have a lot of similarities too.

Apodyopsis - The act of mentally undressing someone

Later that week in class I witnessed something rather strange on Diana's part. Across the classroom Jennifer was presenting her work, her thesis: The different ways one will express their love. Usually Diana's features will bundle together whenever she looked in the direction of Jennifer. But today was different. Today her eyebrows were relaxed, her bottom lip was between her teeth and her eyes were trained and overly focussed that she didn't so much as blink. That was until the class started clapping for Jennifer, Diana's eyes softened after she finally blinked, but they still followed the brown haired beauty to her seat.

Jennifer looked at Diana, realising that someone was staring at her, Diana immediately fake gagged and turned away to talk to her friends.

Interesting.

Storge - An affectionate love that slowly develops from friendship

After class ended I caught up with Megan. Megan was Diana's best friend so I'm assuming that she will have some information to give me. I will have to make it casual though, she won't tell me anything if I make it obvious I am snooping for information.

"Hey Smegma, do you wanna get lunch together" Casual enough right?

"Shhhh, You're so embarrassing. But yeah for sure" She paused to look around "Do you wanna ask Diana if-"

"NO" I cut her off quickly, she furrowed her eyebrows at my outburst "She's just, she's already gone, I saw her walking to the A-level centre"

"Okay-"

We ate in a comfortable silence. Megan with her pasta and me with a chicken sandwich.

"You and Diana have been friends a long time right?"

"Yeah, been through thick and thin with that gal"

"I guess you hate Jennifer as much as her then" I said it as a statement but held a silence afterwards that would give her time to answer it anyway.

"No actually, I'm still good friends with her, I just hang out with Diana while Jennifer has other friends"

"Still?"

"Yeah, Jennifer ,Diana and I all used to be super close. Some more than others" She mumbled the last part under her breath but I still caught it.

"Wait, do you mean that-" I trailed off hoping she would catch my drift. Her nod was all the confirmation I needed.

Clinomania - The excessive desire to stay in bed.

Not only did we find out crucial information about Jennifer and Diana's past relationship but also that if you bribe Megan with free food she will tell you virtually everything.

So to my knowledge, Jennifer and Diana used to be a thing on the down low. But one of Jennifer's other friends found out and gave her an ultimatum: Break up with Diana, or lose her and the rest of her groups numbers.

Diana was heartbroken, so much so that she had to stay home from school for a few weeks because she couldn't find it within herself to get out of bed.

Jennifer started swearing a lot more. Lalochezia - emotional relief gained from using profane language.

Megan stuck by Diana more because Diana was emotionally broke down. Jennifer was feeling the same way however dealt with this whole ordeal in a different way. Drinking excessively, kissing people she wouldn't usually kiss at parties.

Needless to say when they started college and realised they were on the same course something had to change. Diana couldn't be in a world of self pity anymore the same way Jennifer couldn't waste herself away.

It was an unspoken mutual agreement that they would just act like enemies, that way people knew not to engage both of them at the same time. It was either, or. Never both.

Seemed to be working for both of them, however from what I witnessed earlier I think Diana's facade is slipping.

Monachopsis - The subtle but persistent feeling of being out of place

Finding out what really happened has left me melancholy. For the past few days I have been observing them, now feeling dolorous. It feels as though I am intruding on a personal matter but I can't help but now see the sympathy looks that Jennifer passes to Diana when she isn't looking.

Diana doesn't talk to many people other than Megan and occasionally me if Megan isn't there. Many people like Diana for a hot minute but her hyperactive personality tends to drive people away pretty fast. Don't get me wrong she has loads of people around her all the time. But she's lacking in close, personal friendships that one needs to feel part of something.

Lagom - Swedish word for the perfect balance

Slowly they both stopped glaring at each other, they stopped bumping into each other when they would cross paths. People seemed to notice this and assumed that a truce must've been made. Thinking this, Lilly invited them both to a party.

Upon the realisation that they were both attending the same party, I watched as they both looked at each other in the girls backyard, and like the few times everyone has seen before, they glanced at each other indifferently.

Although a few drinks and songs later they end up dancing into each other. I can't hear the conversation through the loud music playing throughout the spacious home but I can assume it's good by the smile on Diana's face and the Dopey grin on Jennifer's.

They carried out the night dancing and laughing with each other. A little later Megan tells me that they decided to sort out the past and begin a future with being friends. Needless to say college was less intense whenever they were in the same room.
