*Christina's POV* (same day as the last story)
I go into school and the front office tells me that social services have gone to Janae's house and have told us they found it "unfit living conditions". That's all they could tell us. Later that day I get a call from CPS that there's an older girl in need of fostering and wondered if I'd like to foster her. I nearly knew that this was Janae and I said I'd love to and I'd be over to the CPS building after school to collect her. When I get to the CPS building I walk into the lobby and see Kath, Lise and Ames doing some work.
'Hey Chris,' Amy says as I walk in. 'Janae is in there taking a nap I'll go in and wake her up, just letting you know she's quite a nervous person.' I sign some papers and then I see Amy bringing Janae out. I smile as she walks over grinning wildly with her school bag and another rucksack with her belongings in it.
'Hey Janae,' I say.
'Hey uh Christina,' she says obviously confused about my name.
'Come on, lets go,' I say taking her bag. She waves to the girls and then follows me out to the car. On the car ride home I found out more about her story and we bring some pizza home. I never realized how sad her story was until she said it all to me at once. We got home and Nick was in the living room.
'Hey Janae,' Nick says warmly and stands up to greet her.
'H-hey Nick,' Janae says apprehensively.
'It's okay Janae, he won't hurt you,' I say giving her shoulder a reassuring squeeze. She smiles in reply and then all of our eyes dart to the pizza.
Almost in unison we jump into action. Nick goes over to the pizzas, opens them and starts putting them onto plates. I put Janae's bags up in her now room and Janae starts eating some pizza. We all go into the living room and sit down talking me and Nick getting to know more about Janae and Janae getting to know more about us.
At about nine o'clock Janae gets tired so I go upstairs with her and show her where her room is and we start putting her things away. Then Janae gets ready for bed, says goodnight and then goes into her room to go asleep.
I go back downstairs where Nick is on the couch and I cuddle into him.
'Nick, I can't believe we did this!' I say incredulously.
'I know sweetheart,' he replies 'And we're going to be okay.'
I know he can sense my panic and him telling me it'll be okay completely calms me. I'm really tired so I go up to bed.
*Janae's POV*
The next morning Christina wakes me up a little earlier then I'd normally wake up and for a second I'm panicked and don't know where I am but then realize it's all better now. I get dressed, brush my hair, put on some makeup and go downstairs to see Nick eating some toast.
'Hey Janae,' he says through a mouthful of toast.
'Hey,' I say brushing past him to the living room to put my shoes on.
'We have some Pop tarts or toast, you can help yourself,' Nick says finishing his toast
'Okay thanks I'll get some now,' I say going into the kitchen and putting two Pop Tarts into the toaster. While they're in the toaster I get my schoolbag and put it by the front door so I can grab it when I leave. While eating my breakfast I look around the joined kitchen and living room and take in how amazing it is when Christina comes downstairs.
'Hey Janae did you sleep well,' she asks coming into the kitchen and putting some toast in the toaster.
'Yeah thanks I did what about you,' I ask finishing my breakfast.
'Good,' she answers ' so every morning we'll probably leave by 7:30 and get to school pretty early and then we'll stay after school for a while so I can grade papers and if I have meetings but i'll try leave as quick as I can.'
'Okay,' I answer nodding looking at the clock and see its 7:20.
'I'm going back upstairs for a little bit before we have to leave,' I say walking up the stairs. Chris and Nick nod and then start talking among themselves. I run up to my room and pick up an old guitar from the corner of my room that was left in here. I strum a chord and find it's in tune. I then start playing Oceans by Hillsong United:
You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand
And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now
So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
And You are mine
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my SaviourAt the end of the song I look up to see Christina at the door listening to me. I put the guitar down laughing and Christina walks over to me.
'Janae I.. wow that was so good,' Christina exclaims.
'Oh uh thanks,' I say blushing. We then go downstairs and leave because it's already been 10 mins. We get to school by 7:45 and when we go in it's really empty and quiet. All the teachers, even the ones who don't like me are smiling at me. We go into Christina's classroom and she starts grading. I finish off some homework I need to do and before I know it it's time for homeroom.
During the day I keep nearly calling Ms. Cimorelli Christina but I kept catching myself. I know this is gonna be really good!
