Gilbert's POV
I woke up on Monday morning, ready for what the day threw at me.
I didn't stop as I got changed.
I wore Black jeans, a black turtleneck shirt and a yellow plaid jacket.

I arrived at school shortly after, because I didn't have breakfast. Too excited.

As I was walking through the hall of locker room, the sun was shining on the most gorgeous person I have ever laid eyes on. She had red hair, done in two braids. She wore a nice brown skirt, with a white long sleeved white knitted sweater, that matched the complexion of her pale skin. And she wore black, Knee high boot-heels.

She turned around and we locked eyes. We stared at each other for a few seconds, before she looked away.

So I decided to walk up to her.
I tapped on her shoulder and she turned around.

"Hi. I'm Gilbert. Gilbert Blythe."

"H-hi. I-I'm Anne."

"You must be the new 'competitive' student. Good luck." I said confidently.

"What competition?" Anne said flirtatiously. As she turned on her heel and  walked off.

Isn't she a charm?

Literature had finally come around.
This year we had Miss Stacy is our Literature teacher.

First lessons of Literature are always boring so I decided to do something else. Writing. Not just any writing. Letter(s). The (first) letter says
Dear Anne,
I may not know you fully, but I am prepared to, all I want to say is. You look pretty today, brown matches you. (A/n: TATBILB the book quote.)
I was wondering if you would like to go out with me?
You don't have to, just a suggestion, not telling you what to do.
From
Gilbert.
I threw the note over to her. But, it hit her arm and fell in the floor. Dammit.
I decided to write the second one the same.
Dear Anne,
I may not know you fully, but I am prepared to, all I want to say is. You look pretty today, brown matches you.
I was wondering if you would like to go out with me?
You don't have to, just a suggestion, not telling you what to do.
From
Gilbert.
I threw the note again, luckily this time it stuck the landing on her desk, the plan. VICTORY!! I waited patiently and hesitantly for her to read the note, but unfortunately, she didn't. I sighed/groaned.

So I went over to her desk
slowly. She was waiting hesitantly.
I bent down and said:

"Hey" I whispered.
"I see you didn't get my note. M-my two notes in fact."
And then I did the unthinkable. I wrapped my hand over her braid and pulled on it and yelled;
"CARROTS!"

I knew that it would be bad. Her face started turning red with anger and embarrassment. She slowly stood up and turned her attention towards me. She said:

"I HATE YOU!! YOUR SELFISH, AND-AND ARROGANT. I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!!"

There were gasps coming from students in the whole room, and then she met her textbook to my cheek. Hard.
I stood there holding my cheek from pain as the gasps got louder. Tears started welling up in her ocean grey eyes and she fled out the room.

I contemplated on going out after her. But I decided not as I don't want the situation too get worse then it already was.

Why am I such an idiot.
Gilbert.
Fucking.
Blythe.
