The Mortal Sun: Cryptic Reality

Chapter 10 - "We found something about me and my sister."

10 years have passed and we have all grown up. I got to be a senior in the LLSC and so do my friends. I have found my talent for playing the flute, I got to perform in a night band and it was fun. I mastered martial arts and sword-fighting, also I got to teach the students about sword fighting. Seina mastered her archery, she also becomes an extroverted tomboy later on. Lewis mastered his sword-fighting, violin, and culinary skills. Georgia left the LLSC before she can be a senior, she migrated to Taiyoko City to continue her education along with her sister. She mastered her martial arts skills. Frey and Victor mastered their culinary skills, they got a chance to become the chefs at the LLSC. I manage to learn and use sign language from Frey so I can understand what he is telling.

Frey decided to start his carrier to make a bakery shop near Sunshine Town Square without Victor. Victor decided to apply for Craig's Magic University along with Lewis and Me. Seina was still at the LLSC serving the community as a senior. The placement test was not what I expected years ago, we were 'experimented' by the lecturer. I thought the placement test was a written test, not some kind of people experimenting in our dreams to see which way would we take. But at least the injuries we got from the examination don't occur in reality.

I achieved the fire element and more about sword fighting from the placement test. I could have a chance to try to use my fire powers again since the tragedy, It's been a long time since I used it. I tried to summon a small fire but it didn't work for me. There are only a few people who are chosen for the fire element.

Lewis achieved the holy element and he got to learn to use a new weapon, a scythe. I heard from the lecturer that the holy element is one of the rarest elements that can be achieved by students because it needs a strong belief, bravery, faith, and hope.

Victor achieved the electric element and he got to learn to use a new weapon, a war hammer. Now he reminds me of the son of Odin, haha.

The university has an apartment only for their students. Each room consists of 2 or 3 students, different genders are separated from each other. My roommate is a short teenage gothic guy and he is a junior university student, his name is Joey. I'm assuming his element is either a shadow element or a darkness element but I was wrong, he is a poison elemental person. Kind of close enough. I am used to be scared of him but now we are friends, If I say so myself.

It's been a year since the three of us become a student at this university, yet I still don't know how to fully use my fire element. We rarely meet each other, we would often meet at breakfast, lunch, and dinner section.

We discussed quite a lot of things when we met again. We share our experiences throughout the day. Victor has a friend named is Kiara  Icyblue, she is an ice elemental student. What kind of surprised me is that he has a crush on her, I mean it's been a year and that's quick. Ever since Victor told us that, Lewis wanted to help Victor and Kiara to be together.

One day in the morning, Lewis, Victor, and I met on the same schedule, it was accidental? We are going out from the university to the horse stable with some other students and 2 lecturers. When we are on the way to the horse stable, we saw a shadow being soaring in the sky quicky. The shadow being was covered in black flowing ashes, it has 3 pairs of wings, and it wore a dark-themed outfit. I could barely see the details of the being. Some people gasped looking at the mysterious being. Some guards are aiming their guns and crossbow from the ground and the watchtower.

"I cometh in peace.  Howev'r, I only has't one requesteth f'r coming h're, I require two people to cometh to the Primis Tenebris empire. A p'rson nam'd Apollo Pyralis and a p'rson nam'd Seina Pyralis. Those people has't two weeks to attendeth the empire. Yond's all I needeth from thee people, thanketh thee," said the mysterious being. It was using an old English language, I can understand most of the words. The being is a female since it has a female voice.

"PUT YOUR WEAPONS DOWN!" the lecturer glared and commanded me. I was shocked, the lecturer summoned his magic powers and he is ready to attack me with it. I look at the students and they were aiming their weapons at me, so does Lewis and Victor. I was ringed by them, I can't escape from this.

"PUT YOUR WEAPONS DOWN YOUNGMAN, THIS IS NOT A DRILL!" the other lecturer added. I was confused, scared, and shocked, so I had to drop my sword to the ground.

As I put my sword down, Lewis inquired, "Is it true... you're Apollo Pyralis?"

"No, I'm not... I- That couldn't be me," I stuttered.

I don't know what's my last or family name, but I don't believe that I am Pyralis. That could be anyone in this empire.

"That being said your name and your sister's name... That should be you," Victor added, he was shaking.

Honestly, I don't know what is going on in this situation. Why are they mad at me or scared of me?

"Are you a spy all this time? Since the day we met you??" Lewis inquired, he was shaking as well.

"I was never a spy in my life. I have no clue where you get that idea from," I answered. This makes me think about what is Seina encountering now, she might be in trouble too.

Lewis was discussing something to the lecturer, the lecturer commanded everyone to put their weapons away. The students followed his command.

Lewis and Victor walked to me and told me to come with them.

I followed them, leaving the group of students. "We need your sister here too," Lewis said as we rushed to the LLSC.

As we made it to the entrance of the LLSC, we saw seina was surrounded by a few seniors.

"SEINA!" I yelled at her to get her attention. Seina spotted me and she was shocked, she ran to me, "What in tarnation is happening?" Seina asked me, she was scared too.

"Hey, we aren't done yet," a teenage senior approached us.

"Get lost, dude!" Seina confronts the senior.

Lewis blocks Seina and holds the senior back, "It's okay, we will try to handle this," the senior shut their mouth and returned to the LLSC.

"Okay guys, you need to tell us something," Lewis looked at me and Seina.

"What do we need to tell you about?" Seina sighs, she was stressed because of the seniors that she confronts.

"That day when you first got to this empire, I mean before you got into the empire. When you are in the old cabin you used to live in. What happened there?" Victor asked the both of us. I stayed silent for a while, thinking of what I must say. That day was still a trauma for me.

"There are these knights who attacked us, along with Eli my caretaker. Eli was killed by one of the knights," I explained to them, "This might seems weird and you guys wouldn't even going to believe me," I continued.

"Well, It depends on how you explain it," Victor remarked. Lewis softly punched his arm with his elbow.

"I... felt rage within me. Somehow I felt like burning. There is fire covering my arms, I could use my firepower as a weapon. So, I murdered those knights. I couldn't save Eli since he got..." I shut myself, I talked too much, I explained too much.

"What Apollo explained is true, It's all true. I remember that tragedy happened," Seina added.

We went silent for a while, Victor and Lewis was thinking about something, "Wait..." Lewis muttered, "So, you can use your fire element before you got in the university? By yourself, without learning from someone?"

I nodded as that is true. Lewis looked like that he got an idea in his mind, "Wait, wait..."

"What are you getting?" Victor asked Lewis.

"Come with me to the library," Lewis urged us, we listened to him. As we got to the library, It was quiet here. Well, since it's a library, we all have to be as quiet as possible. Lewis told me and Seina to wait in the reading area. Lewis and Victor went to the book aisle to search for something.

"Do you hear that woman's voice before?" Seina mumbled.

"I do, I don't know what is going on. People were aiming their weapons at me," I remarked.

"I was held by some of the seniors, we were mad there. I'm glad you aren't there because I know that you're going to strike them," Seina understands me well.

"Who do you think that woman was?" I asked Seina.

"I don't know, maybe some kind of a knight, an angel of darkness, a devil?? I have zero ideas," Seina mumbled.

"Maybe she is someone we knew since we were too young to remember or maybe a survivor from those fires," I sighed.

A few minutes later, Lewis and Victor came back. Lewis brought a brown leather book as he walked to us. It was a history book about Ignis Empire.

"Y'all we found something," Lewis remarked as he opens the book. We look to the page that Lewis showed.

"So, there was a war happened in the Ignis Empire years ago. They said that the king and the queen's children were burnt on their bedroom alive by someone," Lewis explained.

"Could it be one of the members of the Aurora empire that did it?" Seina asked Lewis.

"That would be impossible since this war was a coup d'etat. Which means the sudden, violent overthrow of an existing government by a small group, The history book didn't explain who started it," Lewis answered.

"A year later, the king of Ignis disappeared out of nowhere, No one knew where the king went. Then he was replaced by another king. The new king renamed the Ignis Empire to Primis Tenebris Empire. In English, it was called as Dusk Empire," Lewis explained more.

"I don't understand... What does that have to do anything with us?" I asked Lewis and Victor.

"We found a photograph of an art of the royal family," Victor opens another page of the book. The photograph colors are fading away since it's old. There we see an adult man with three pair of wings, a woman, and their two children. The man had his whole face covered in black on the painting, it looks like the painting was burnt by someone accidentally.

"These are the kids that are declared that they are burnt alive, and these are the King and Queen, their parents," Victor explained more about it, "The son had a trait, he has a birthmark that looks like a scar on his right forehead," Victor added. The three of them looked at me and Seina wiped my front hair back to see if I have the birthmark or not.

"Oh god..." Seina mumbled as she walked back.

"Not to mention, the Queen has a necklace. Looks like a yellow spiral or a circular pendant." Victor added.

Seina grabbed her necklace and looked at it, she was shocked and so are we.

"They said that the pendant can cast powerful magic, it could light the whole empire up," Victor cleared out.

"Wait, so this means..." Lewis stopped as he tries to think, "Oh, lord..."

"What?" I was already scared about what's going to happen though I might know the answer.

"You're the Burnt Children and the children of the King and Queen."
