'Knock knock.' Natasha heard on her bedroom door. She shakily rose up from her bed and opened the door to find Bucky on the other side.

She didn't say anything, but she moved to the side to let him in and slowly shut the door after.

"I'm not gonna ask if your ok." He said.

"Good. That would've been lame." She gave him a small smile. "I can't believe that..."

"I know... I'm sorry."

"You have got nothing to be sorry for. They froze you and sent you away before the week was up." Natasha said quietly. "I can't believe that she's alive. I have been mourning her for 15 years and all this time they were turning her into me."

Bucky said nothing. He felt beyond guilty that the woman he was still in love with had to experience the pregnancy all alone, and had to feel the pain of losing their daughter alone too.

Daughter. He had a daughter. The soldier couldn't wrap his head around it.

"You know, the day you told me that you were pregnant was the happiest day of my life. I hoped to get out of Hydra's clutches, rescue you and we would move to a place where they couldn't find us. We'd have a nice house, big garden, a normal life... I guess some things aren't meant to be." He laughed at his past self's naivety.

Natasha looked at him with red rimmed eyes. Her heart hurt, just like years ago when he was forced to leave her behind. She had loved him, and if she thought about it then she would realize that sue was still in love with him. Everything she had wanted, James and their daughter, under one roof. But not in the way she had envisioned. Her daughter, who she had not seen since her birth, wanted her dead. She never wanted Nikita to end up with a childhood like her own, but it seemed that it was inevitable.

"Believe it or not, I wanted that to." She walked over to her bed and sat down, not taking her eyes off of him. "A normal life was what I dreamed of for years, and then I wanted one with you. Silly teenage dream on my part." The red head laughed a little with a sob breaking through it.

Bucky sat beside her, debating whether she would appreciate what he was about to do. He then threw caution to the wind and put an arm around her, pulling her to his chest and used his other hand to stroke her hair.

He didn't use words to comfort her. They held no meaning at that moment. He knew that just the thought of him holding her safely in his arms, was the only comfort she could take at the time. He knew that he knew her better than Clint, as he saw what she went through and understood how much damage was done because he went through something similar.

No one could understand unless they went through it themselves.
