I kept thinking to myself who this man was and what he wanted. What I could do that could possibly kill someone. I get up slowly from the bed and walk to the bathroom, everything hurt and my hands were burning, it felt like I got lemon juice in a cut. My stomach hurt and I clenched the sink as I felt my insides twisting and turning. I thought that I was gonna die. I opened the door back out to the room when I saw Dr. Royo.
"I told you that something was going to happen." He said in a disappointed manner.
"I am in a...a lot of pain right now, do. Not. Test. Me!" I said grabbing my stomach.
"You are just like your mother." He said grabbing my arm and walking me back to bed.
"What do you mean?" I said with tears in my eyes form the pain.
"She was relentless, I remember watching her scold my father when he said he wasn't sure if he still wanted to do the treatment." He said laughing to himself
"Your mother finally convinced him and he gave you the shot right after you were born." He said looking down.
"That's when all hell broke lose, you were fine no symptoms nothing, then it came to Jasper the sweet young boy he was, my dad injected him and he started to glow, and odd glow, he kept getting brighter and brighter and he screams got louder and louder. Until the window broke it shattered into hundreds of pieces, but everyone was okay, because you saved them. You simply put out your hand, a baby that was just born that day understood how strong she was and stopped anyone from getting hurt and not a single tear dropped from your eye. Then your mother ran in and went crazy on my dad and the mother of the child then she took you to the nursery where you stayed. My father vowed that no one was to ever know what happened in they ward, he deleted the security footage and made everyone there promise that these children will never know what they can do." He said holding my hand,
"You Rosie are special, and I hope you know that." He said walking out of my room. The pain stopped and I could not feel the twisting and turning in my stomach, I was so confused and thought that I was in some coma or fell asleep on the bus and this is all some weird dream. The one problem was it felt way too real. I crawled back into bed and fell to sleep. I woke up the next morning with the sun shining in my face, the first thing my lungs did was greet me with a nice cough probably waking up everyone else in the ward. A nurse came running in.
"Sweetie are you alright?" She said walking in. I couldn't answer I was too busy coughing my lungs up. I was holding my chest, it felt like it was burning. Then I saw Dr. Royo run in.
"Breathe just breathe." He said while rubbing my back. I slowly gathered my breath and I stopped coughing.
"Excuse me nurse but can you leave." He said swatting her away.
"But your not her-" he interrupted her
"Leave!" He said pushing her out.
"I haven't coughed like that in years." I said holding my chest.
"That's because your body is trying to understand the new properties it holds." He said unplugging my ventilations.
"Why are you unplugging my vents!" I said jumping up.
"This isn't going to help you, you need energy your body is going to be asking for it tonight when you start to get symptoms of your powers. You already had some but not as bad as they are going to be tonight. All I can say is be prepared, it's going to hurt and you are going to scare yourself." He looked at me and took a deep breath.
"When it happens my office is two doors down, get me!" He said and then he walked out. I wondered why he cares so much, I mean someone like me killed his dad. My mom walked in. I quickly struggled to plug my vent back in.
"Why did you unplug your vent?" My mom said walking in the room rushing towards me.
"It was getting uncomfortable." I said looking away form her.
"Your health means more than your comfort. When will you start taking care of yourself." She said turning around crossing her arms.
"I do take care of myself, I....I just don't, UGH I don't know. Mom I'm. I'm scared." I said looking away from the tears forming in her eyes.
"Why baby?" She said walking over to me.
"I don't know mama!" I said while I started to sob.
"Baby there is something I need to tell you." She said putting her hand on my forehead.
"Mhm." I said swallowing my breath.
"Your different." She said rubbing my face.
