Lillian had been trying on every dress she owned, starting 5 hours before the Yule Ball. Frustration grew inside her as she tried one more dress, took a swirl and looked in the mirror. This was the dress. Joy filled her heart as she moved on to her hair and makeup. Suddenly she saw Cedric coming in the common room with a worried face. "Lillian? Are you not coming?" He asked concerned. He knew she had a date cause they had been talking about it the last week or so. Both equally nervous about the entire thing. A mutual respect and understanding had connected them earlier. Despite the age difference they both liked each other's company. Looking at her he started regretting not thinking about asking her. "Is the clock that much?!" She exclaimed as she applied her red lipstick and walked out of the common room with him.
Meanwhile Severus had gotten there early with the rest of the teachers to do the last minute finishing touches. That was his excuse anyways, truth was that he wanted to see Lillian and who her date were. The minutes went by as more and more people started gathering to find their dates but no Lillian to be seen. He did catch a glimpse of Harry looking nervous around. A smirk formed on his lips at the thought of Harry being let down by his date. A hand on his shoulder took him out of his thoughts as he slowly turned around expecting it to be Igor again. Surprise was big when he saw Lillian standing there. Her red hair had never been this much like Lily's and her perfect one shoulder, black dress fit her perfectly. Pride filled his heart seeing her. Equally sudden the pride went away as he saw Harry approaching them nervously.
Lillian had of course made sure to find her father first thing when she got to the entrance. Doing a little spin for him she giggled happily. "Do you like it?" She asked with a giggly voice. "I love it" it was Harry. She hadn't noticed him coming but now he was smiling at her with the most goofy smile she had ever seen. Severus' mind was racing, they were half siblings! This could not happen. He couldn't allow it. Just as he opened his mouth to speak McGonagall appeared and started speaking to Harry. "You are aware you are starting the dance right?" She said sternly as Harry and Lillian exchanged worries looks. "Ummm" Harry began but was cut off by Lillian's eager voice "oh that's wonderful! Thank you professor" she replied before turning to Harry "why didn't you tell me?!" She spoke a little louder than intended which caused Severus to jump slightly as he walked away. His mind was racing, how could he prevent this without telling them the truth? He shook his head slightly and took his place by the other teachers in the hall.
Harry and Lillian was being guided into position by McGonagall amongst the other champions and their dates. She saw Viktor had managed to get Hermione as his date. Poor girl, was all she could think. Hermione deserved better than him and his ego. Suddenly they were moving forward as they walked into the hall surrounded by cheering people. Reaching the dance floor Harry looked very nervous. "Hand. Waist. Now" she whispered just in time for him to do it as the music started. Being a girl of tradition she let him lead which turned out to be a pretty stupid choice. Within moments they were both laying stretched out on the floor. Looking up at the ceiling she let out a bubbly laugh as people ran to help them. "Your dress!" It was Cedric's voice and it was horrified. Well on her feet again she looked down to see it being ripped. "Oh well" she couldn't help but laugh. Everyone was watching them by now. Even the music had stopped playing. With a wave of her wand the dress turned into a much more comfortable black top, a leather jacket and black pants. Looking over at Harry she noticed he was with Ron and he looked pretty shaken. "Well. Can a girl get some music? I'm here to partyyyy" she shouted to everyone's astonishment. Sure enough, the music began playing again as Harry hurried over to her. "I am so sorry I--" she placed a finger on his mouth. "The dress was killing me anyways" she giggled happily. This time she took the lead and it went a lot better. She concluded with that he just needed some guidance and then he would be just fine on the dance floor. Suddenly the music changed into her favourite band The twisted Sisters. As everyone started rocking out she felt a hand pulling her and Harry out of the crowd. It was her father and he looked pissed. "Be nice to him dad" she warned as Severus gave a very nervous Harry the death glare. "You are related" he whispered so no one else would hear. Lillian burst out laughing uncontrollably until she felt Harry's look on her. "He is joking Harry! Right dad?" The laughter died as he shook his head. "How?" Harry muttered looking her up and down. Then a light bulb went of in him, his mother had had red hair just like Lillian's. A moment of shock filled the room like a fog. From very far away Lillian could hear a voice whispering her name as she blacked out.
