the first thing i noticed when i woke up was the smell.

it smelt nice.
i've never been in a place that smelt nice before.

i started to open my eyes as they felt really heavy. i could barely lift them up- it felt like they were literally being weighed down. i groaned as all of a sudden a sharp pain shot up my neck into my head. i heard voices around me.

"oh my god is she dead?"
"no she's not dead, you idiot klaus."
"wait... i think she's waking up."
"poor little girl."

it was hard, but i slowly opened my eyes to see a group of adults standing next to me and looking down at me.

the first one i noticed was a man.
and oh boy, was he a man.
he was huge and had very short blond hair with brown eyes.

he was standing next to another man, who was not as big as the first one. he had black hair and a very distinct scar in his eyebrow.

he was standing next to yet another man, except this one looked a bit younger. he had fluffy brown hair and a bright pink scarf around his neck. he looked kinda high.

next i saw a young women, who had her hair pulled back in a lowly hung bun and had a big black coat in and a scarf. she looked kinda sad, to be honest.

then my eyes traveled to a women, a very beautiful women with tan skin and light hair. she was wearing all black, but it was stylish.

i observed all of these strangers in a matter of seconds, while they just stared at me.
"do you think she's deaf?" the one with a scarf around his neck asked.
"leave the poor child alone." the women asked.

child?

i felt really confused and found the courage to speak.
"w-where am i?" i asked.

no.
that wasn't me.
it couldn't be.

my voice did not sound the same from what it usually is; now it was a little higher pitched and almost angelic like. i kinda liked it, but it wasn't me saying that.

damn, i really hit my head that hard?

"sweetie, you're at the umbrella academy mansion. you knocked on the door, but when we went out to look, you were passed out on the front steps with really big clothes on that didn't fit you at all." she told me. my eyebrows slightly furrowed in shock. i passed out? and why were my clothes so big?
they gave me space and let me climb out of the bed, as the pretty lady helped me up and had me walk a little bit with her help because i was dizzy and stumbling a little.
she brought me over to a chair, and when i went to sit down a saw a mirror.

there was a girl in it.
except for me.
i saw her and thought,
no way. no way, no way. no fucking way. that's not me.
but it looked a lot like me.
no, it's not me.
it looked like me, but just a younger version. my eyes went wide as i got scared and screamed.
i screamed.
i really fucking screamed.

"that is not me! that is not me!" i said, pointing to the mirror, as the little girl pointed back. they all looked at me in confusion.
"what do you mean it's not you?" the huge man asked.
"i-i am 32 years old, not a little 14 year old girl." i told them in fear. they all looked at each other as i looked at them in hopes of finding an answer. then they all looked back as if someone was there. i got up from the chair and looked at who they were staring at.

it was a boy.
i know that boy.
don't know how.
but i do.

he looked at me and gave me the same expression i was probably giving to him. he looked shocked, as if he just saw his friend he hadn't seen in 6 years.
his mouth was slightly opened as he slowly moved towards me.
"do i- know you?" he asked me. i just stood there in shock.
the other people left quickly because i guess they were confused, but i didn't see why because i kept staring at the boy.
he was young, probably around 16 with dark brown hair and bright green-

wait.
i know those eyes.

"we've met before." i said, kind of like a question. he shook his head yes very slightly.
he walked over to me until we were inches apart.

"five?"
