Chapter 1: Cafe

-Izumi's POV-

2 years later [10 months to the entrance exam]...

Kacchan, Shinso and I had been training hard for the entrance exams! We still were! Shinso was training a hundred times harder though because his quirk wouldn't work on the robots. We had managed to clean up the beach in five months and were left with ten until the entrance exam. Shinso was in our class this year so we got lucky!

"Now I should hand out career aptitude tests but..." The teacher smiled. "I know you all want to be heroes!" He tossed the papers into the air. Everyone other than Shinso, Kacchan and I started showing off their quirks.

"Oi teach, don't lump the Underground's in with these losers! They'll be lucky to end up as some D-listers sidekick!" Kacchan shouted, causing everyone other than our little group to start yelling at him. The Underground's was the nickname our group got because we were planning on being a group of underground heroes.

"You applied for U.A didn't you Bakugo?" The teacher said. Whispers started going around about how tough it is to get into U.A.

"Exactly! That's why it's the only place worthy of The Underground's!" Kacchan shouted.

"Oh yeah, Shinso and Midoriya wanted to go to U.A too?" our teacher said. Of course, everyone started saying with our villainous quirks we would never get in. I heard Shinso mutter something under his breath and everyone other than The Underground's froze, and the teacher.

"Sit down and be quiet! You're saying the kids with powerful quirks are villainous? What about the guy who literally has devil wings! You guys are such hypocrites!" Shinso muttered loud enough for everyone to hear. "Flick your foreheads!" He ordered. The class obeyed and were scared of him.

"Thank you for calming them down Shinso," The teacher said. The bell rang and he dismissed the class. As I was packing up, Shinso and Bakugo walked over.

"So, you ready to head to the gym? I'll also buy some new weights whilst we're there, that way I can get a lot stronger!" Bakugo exclaimed. I nodded and we headed to the mall where we would then head to the gym.

It was getting late and I knew mum wasn't going to be home to make dinner so I decided to head to my favourite cafe, the place was always open and had the best of everything! 

As I was walking in, I noticed a guy swarmed by people, he had black hair and indigo eyes. His ears were pointy like an elf's and he seemed really shy. People were asking for his autograph and I recognised them as girls from my school.

"Leave the poor guy alone, this is a cafe, not a meet and greet!" I shouted. The girls froze and turned around to see me.

"Oh my gosh, it's Izumi Midoriya!"

"She's one of the Underground's right?"

"She has such a villainous quirk!"

"Of course she's an Underground! Two of them have villainous quirks and the other has a villainous attitude!"

The girls all talked and screamed stuff like that as they ran out of the cafe.

"Sorry about them, your Tamaki Amajiki, right? I saw you in the sports festival last year! Great job coming second!" I exclaim, offering my hand. He looks to the side and mutters thanks.

"What did they mean villainous?" He asks after I order.

"Oh? Well, my quirk is called Shadow, it gives me complete control over shadows, I can even blend in with them which I do whenever I'm not in class or at the mall, I'm probably the shyest girl alive but I put on a brave face! As for Underground's, it's like the big Three at our school. Me and my friends have the most powerful quirks and we all want to be underground heroes together! My friend Kacchan has a bit of an explosive attitude but he's a great guy, Shinso's quirk is brainwashing so people see the Three of us as villainous but we just want to help!" I say with a smile. Tamaki looks away, his face red.

I take my milkshake and wave to him.

"Cya around Tamaki!" I smile. He blushes.

I'm walking home when I hear an explosion.

Kacchan

I recognise his explosions anywhere and I dash forward. There's a crowd and a massive slime villain who has Kacchan hostage. I'm about to run forward but I stop myself. The sun is setting meaning I have the advantage, but my quirk becomes harder to control at night. If I run forward now without any way that guarantees our safety then it's too big of a risk. I see Shinso gritting his teeth. I rush over to him, already formulating a plan.

"Shinso, get him to answer you, then I'll get Kacchan using the shadows, and before you say its illegal to use our quirks, it's illegal to use quirks to harm the villain but we won't be harming him so hurry!" I say. Shinso nods and yells something at the villain who then freezes. I take my chance and focus on the shadows surging forwards and pulling Kacchan out, they succeed and I jump using them and catch him. He starts coughing and gasping for air.

"Thanks, Porcupine and Zumi," he smiles. The pro's get the villain.

"That was a risk-" I cut the pro off.

"No it wasn't, I already thought about all the possible outcomes, there was no way anyone would get hurt and no way we would be breaking the law so don't scold us for doing your job better than you, scold yourselves for not doing as good a job as us!" I exclaim. The camera is aimed at me and my trio and Kacchan wraps an arm around the two of us.

"See us three here! In our school, we're known as the Underground's! We got the best quirks there and the best attitudes! The three of us are gonna be the next best heroes!" Kacchan shouts into the camera. I give him a playful shove.

"I think you mean Shinso and I have the best attitudes you angry pomeranian!" I tease and the three of us give a little laugh before walking home.

I'm stopped on the way by All Might.

"Hello young?"

"Midoriya!" I say, trying not to fangirl out.

"Well, I have a question, if you were able to inherit a quirk from someone without being born with it so that you could be the number one hero would you?" he asks.

"No, I would want someone more deserving of it to have it, I have a great quirk, one that could mean I can be a really powerful hero but there are people way more unfortunate, you can say I have the right spirit but I'm not the only one! So I would want someone quirkless or someone with a weak quirk to have it, so they get the chance I have!" I exclaim, and All Might nods.

"Great answer, I would like to congratulate you on staying within the law and rescuing your friend, I'm sure you'll make a great hero! I hope to see you again Young Midoriya!" All Might saluted me before leaping away. I smiled.

I guess today really was my day!
