Chapter 2

It didn't take long before they managed to reach the highest traversable area of the mountain.

While looking around they spotted an old basecamp beneath a small overhang and decided to head towards it. It was abandoned and covered in snow but it would do for now. Everything was better than being out in the storm.

They all sat down to discuss their next steps.

"Alright, you guys know the drill," Brandon spoke up, "Tess, you will occupy the monster with your ongoing attacks. Focus on the legs so we get a chance to trip it over."

"Got it," she replied while sharpening her blades.

"Runa, use your arrows to bombard this Blangonga until it can't tell left from right. Make it rain!"

The archeress nodded while twiddling her thumbs. As always before a hunt, she was a bit nervous.

"And Donniel," he continued, "You'll be in charge of keeping the monster's attention on you as much as possible. So we are free to engage from all angles."

"Yeah, I figured as much," grinned Donniel.

"When you set up a good opening, my humble self will jump in to finish it off."

Brandon looked at his team, "Any questions?"

Everybody shook their heads. They knew how to arrange themselves.

"Good," said Brandon smiling, "Then we're talking preparations now. Everyone takes another hot drink. It's already way too fucking cold here, I don't want you freezing to death in the middle of the fight, you hear me?"

Now he was back to his definitive tone.

"In terms of supplies, we got three flash pods, two small barrel bombs, one pitfall trap, and one shock trap."

The three of them began chugging down hot drinks as they kept listening to their leader.

"Runa, Tess, and I will each take a flash pod, for emergency cases. I'll also place the shock trap."

Brandon began distributing the items among the group.

"The pitfall trap goes to Tess and we'll combine it with the barrel bombs. That's gonna be your part, Donniel."

"No problem, just give us the sign and this beast is in for a treat!" Donniel responded, smacking his fist into his palm.

Brandon gave him a nod, "That's what I like to hear!"

Then he shifted his attention to Runa, "Did you manage to bring the coatings I asked you for?"
