Mr. Wolf was at the last day of the chess tournament that day. Even though the Gray House was as silent and neat as always, without his presence the modern interiors lacked warmth. The house now looked as if it was waiting to be shown to potential buyers.
Frederick, who Fiona came to feed every day of Felix's absence, wasn't anywhere to be seen.
The air was stifling after morning rain. Fiona tied up her hair and turned on her timer.
When walking into the exercise room, she still felt suprised when the silhouete with grayhair and gray t-shirt wasn't there, slouched over the chess board.
After hour of peaceful work she sat down at the kitchen counter to drink some coffee. At that moment she heard something like a scream coming from the yard. Then she saw two animals – a rat and Frederick covered in mud - sprint through the patio door. They run upstairs. Fiona came after them.
She found them amongst freshly washed curtains scattered on the bathroom floor. Finally Frederick caught the rat and bit into it's neck. Then, with the thriumph written on his face, he put the rat at her feet.
The girl sighed, kneeled down and petted the pleased cat.
„Are you going to eat that?"
The cat in answer rubbed his face on her knee and left the bathroom.
Fiona scooped rodent's body onto the dustpan and threw into the composter outside. Then shecame back to the bathroom, to do the laundry once again.
But the washing mashine didn't work. The girl started to loose her patience. She wiped off the sweat off her forehead and only then she noticed that the air conditioning didn't work either. She checked the light with the same result as washing mashine.
She went to check out the fuse box. Everything was in perfect order.
The girl came back to the bathroom once again and laid on the cool tiles in the pale shade of gray.
After ten minutes her life forces came back and the idea appeared in her head. She took the dirty curtains and washing powder outside, then took out a bigbasin from the shed and filled it with cold water. She tied the skirt of her white dress above her knee and got to work.

Feliks left the taxicab and walked through the gateway of his house. He was exhausted after eleven days of chess turnament. His thoughts were focused on his bed. At the moment all he wanted was to took off his pants and sleep for a week.
After opening the door he saw Fiona's shoes and bag. He completely forgot that today was her workday. He took off his shoes and looked around the ground floor, noticing the air condicioning not working. When he was about to resign and head to his bedroom, he heard a quiet laughter coming from the outside. He smiled too, unwittingly, and went to the backyard, to see what made the girl laugh.
After seeing her he started to wonder if he is still concious or already asleep.
Fiona was standing in the big basin on the grass and kneeding the laundry with her feet, splashing, laughing and talking to the intrigued cat. The setting sun framed her body with a golden contour. After a moment she looked around and noticed mr Wolf, sitting on the patio. She left the basin, untied the knot of her wet skirt and run towards him.
„You are here already!"
He winced.
„Yeah, I am."
„You look terrible,"She said. „You should go to bed."
He stared at her with something like a surprise written on his face. Then he nodded his head and finally went to bed.
He dreamed of elves with green eyes and black hair, singing irish songs and hanging out white cloths over a meadow.
