Another day, another run. Another urgent document, another shady deal. Another day, and it's all the same. Just another mile. Deep breathes. Keep pushing. I ran my usual morning run around my estate dreading the coming night. I hated going to these 'social gatherings' as Roy liked to call them.

He might have been a great accountant, but frankly I could handle my own books and he sure did piss me off. The only reason I kept him around was because he made my life slightly easier, he followed orders and he was, in fact, right. I knew I had to go to these events as much as I hated them. I just wish it was a dinner and not another auction.

"Vincenzo!" I heard Mary call from the front door. "Come eat your breakfast before you faint."

I rolled my eyes at my house maid, nanny, and most importantly friend. She had most likely been standing there waiting for me to finish my run all morning. I walked over to Mary and she handed me a glass of water and towel. I looked down at my tank that was dripping with sweat and then chugged the glass. "I made french toast. Go shower, you stink" She said sternly, but smiled as usual.

I walked through the entrance way and up the three steps to the left to get to the hallway with the bedrooms.

Mary was the only person I trusted in this world. She was my mother's best friend and had tried her best to take care of me when my parents died, but she could only do so much. Hence my underground empire today. Hence the need to go to the auction. Hence the tension in my back as the warm water surrounded me.
