Episode#26:- (Suffering Alone)
2 months later:-
Swara woke up the next morning, feeling the sunlight streaming through her window. After freshening up, she made her way to the kitchen of her flat. She quietly prepared a simple breakfast and set it on the table. She poured herself a glass of milk and placed it beside her plate before sitting on the chair.
There was a time when she wanted to kill every single milkman in the world, but for the last two months, she had been drinking milk regularly. No matter how much she told herself otherwise, she couldn't get Seb out of her mind. She had tried to stop drinking it and distance herself from everything that reminded her of him, but every time his face appeared in her thoughts, she found herself drinking the milk anyway.
She reminded herself that she hated him, daily, repeating the words like a mantra. But deep down, she knew the truth—she could never hate him. Yes, they were a mafia family, dangerous by nature, but even after two months away, she never felt the kind of fear she would have expected. They had never mistreated her or spoken to her with cruelty.
Seb, arrogant and rude as he could be, never made her feel as though her life was in danger, even if she misbehaved. She didn't want any ties to those people, yet there wasn't a day that went by when she didn't miss them—every one of them. She cried herself to sleep at night, missing them in a way she couldn't fully explain.
Her heart told her to go back, to return to the family that had somehow become hers, but her mind always intervened, reminding her of the suffering she had endured because of Seb. Still, even after returning to her simple life, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. She knew exactly what that was, but she stubbornly denied it, clinging to the belief that she had suffered because of him.
She felt guilty for cutting off Vidhant and Harry, knowing they hadn't deserved her coldness. Yet she knew that keeping any contact with them would make it impossible to avoid Seb. So, she threw herself back into her simple life. But now, as before, there was no one left to take care of her. She was alone once again.
She finished her breakfast and placed the plate in the sink. Heading to her room, she picked up her bag, but something made her pause. Her eyes fell on her reflection in the mirror. For a moment, she just stared at herself, lost in thought. Then, almost subconsciously, she lifted her hand and brushed her hair away from her forehead, revealing the scar that had taken residence there.
It had been a month and a half since the stitches were removed. The doctor had given her a cream to help lighten the scar, warning her that it would take time due to its depth. Though the scar was still prominent, it had faded from an angry red to a pale white. It was there, a lasting reminder of everything she had been through, but she no longer saw it as something to be ashamed of.
She didn't find the scar ugly at all. Ever since Seb had told her that scars were marks of bravery, she had begun to see it differently. His words had stuck with her, changing the way she viewed herself. Instead of disgust, she felt a quiet pride. That scar was proof of her strength, her survival.
She had left him behind, but despite that, there wasn't a single thing in her life that didn't remind her of him. Every small moment, every routine action, somehow brought his memory rushing back. Whether it was drinking milk or catching a glimpse of her scar, his presence lingered in her mind like an unshakable shadow. Even though she tried to move on, his influence was woven into the fabric of her daily life, impossible to forget.
She stared at her scar for a moment, lost in thought, before shaking off the memories. After gathering her belongings, she stepped out of her flat, locking the door behind her. Living on the third floor, she preferred taking the stairs over the elevator, something that had become a small ritual for her.
