Thank you for reading my story.  As you know, it is based on the interactive game "Is it love, Nicolae?" While I enjoyed playing it, I always thought the storyline lacked something; especially when it came to Nicolae Roman's human life.  The game protagonist yo-yo's between the present and past and we catch only glimpses of what Nicolae was like.  I wanted to take his story one step further: to explore his relationship with his family, to expand upon his love-story with his ill-fated fiancé, and to elaborate on his interaction with Ludwig Eberwald and with Viktor Bartholy. In this way, the character of Nicolae becomes more fleshed-out and we can understand his later actions better.  I also happen to come from Transylvania, so I was happy to be able to write a little bit about my homeland. I used some traditional Romanian and Hungarian names for the characters I inserted in Nicolae's world.

If you like it and are interested in my other interpretations of the Bartholy family, you might want to check out my completed story, "Drogo:  Death of a man, birth of a vampire."  I must warn you in advance that Drogo's story contains a fair amount of material that is of a sexual nature and is recommended only for mature audiences.  The reason for the different tones used in the two stories is due to my attempt to stay in character with each of the Bartholy brothers, who have very distinct personalities. To me, Drogo seems more sexual and impulsive than Nicolae. In turn, Nicolae strikes me as more refined and reserved. Therefore, there is not as much sexual material in his story. Having said that, there will be a couple of chapters in which Nicolae and his fiancée get physical.  I will label those chapters as 'Mature.'

So, without further ado... welcome to my version of Nicolae's story. As always, please feel free to comment - I am open to all suggestions.

Cheers,

Andie K
