His eyes flew open, and he sat straight up. His mind was racing, all the details of the dream still fresh in his mind. He looked around, and started to panic. He was in a hospital room, much like the one from his dream.

“Where am I?” he said. He heard a muffled shout from outside, and called again. “Is someone there? Who are you?” He heard someone unlocking his door, and saw the doorknob opening.

“It can’t be...” He heard as the door opened, before he could see who was talking. Then the person steeped into the room. He looked like a teenager, with sandy blond hair and blue eyes. He was tall and thin, though he looked like he’d fight back hard in a fight.

“My god, it is! You’re awake!” The boy said. He laughed. “My god, you’re awake! Val’s gonna go nuts! And once we get ahold of the others…”

“Who are you?” interrupted the first boy. He felt like he should know, but he didn’t.

“Who am I?... Of course. You wouldn’t remember me. You used all your memorgy on that blast… I’m Aldrin. The LifeMage, if you will. I’ve been taking care of you while you were asleep. Val should be around here, too. I’ll see if I can find her. She’ll be able to tell you more than I…” Aldrin said. He then walked over the window, and looked out. There was a butterfly fluttering around out there, and he acted like it was significant. He opened the window, and called out.

“Val! Val, he’s awake! He’s finally awake! Come on!” he closed the window, and turned back on the boy. “You know, you’ve grown. Seems funny saying that, but it’s true. You always were good-looking, I guess, but now… It’s no wonder Val-” He said, interrupting by the door slamming open.

“My god, Rin, if you’re just messing with me again…” She said. She had straight dark brown hair that went down to her mid-back, green eyes, and soft features, though the way she held herself and the muscles on her arms showed that she wouldn’t let herself get pushed around. She was looking at Aldrin, but then she saw the boy. “Blake? Oh my god, Blake! You’re awake!” She goes over to him, and pulls him into a tight hug. Then she pulls back, and slaps him. “And that’s for scaring me! Do you know how long I’ve waited for you to wake up? How long I’ve helped Aldrin take care of you? How long I’ve… How long I’ve missed you?”

            “I… I’m sorry…” Blake says, looking slightly confused but still sincere. “And… I don’t know. The last thing I remember is… riding on a wolf, and bits and pieces… and a flash of white? I… I don’t know… I’m sorry…”

“A wolf? But… Oh, no. Al, I don’t think he remembers anything after the escape…” Valissa said, looking a little upset.

“Um, could someone please tell me what’s going on? I know I just woke up, and I know that you both are kinda upset, but I really don’t remember anything, and it’s starting to scare me.” Blake said.

“Yeah, sorry…” Aldrin said, sheepishly. “Well, to put it bluntly, you’re the product of an illegal government experiment. They wanted weapons for a war that they thought was going to start, so they took kids and put little nanobots in those kids. The nanobots were only supposed to make us heal faster, and for some that’s what happened, but for others… There were side effects. The kids could do other, bigger things, but they lost their memories if they used their powers to much. So they started calling the energy that the nanobot’s run on Memorgy, since it ate away at memories if it ran out.

“But eventually, after about ten years of this, kids started fighting back. They revolted. The people doing this to the kids couldn’t do much about it, and it would’ve ended there, but some of the kids were brainwashed, some honestly believed in what was happening. In any case, the scientests in charge had enough of an army to keep us locked up. Until you broke out. You were their secret weapon. The ultimate experiment. But… The lead scientist working on you, Thomas Grey, didn’t agree with the brainwashing. So he gave you your powers, but he never stole your emotions, or your mind, like he was supposed to. So when you and Val broke out, he was killed. But you and Val survived, and you led the rest of us to war. And, because of you two, we won peace, even if Mitchel-”

“I don’t think he even remembers Mitchel, Al.” Interrupted Valissa, looking distraught. “So I think that part can wait. Are you up for a walk, Blake? I wanna show you around.”

“Uh… Sure? I guess I’m up for it…” Blake replied, briefly wondering why Valisa had cut Aldrin off. Then he decided that if he needed to know, she would tell him. After all, Blake did know her… Even more so than he knew himself, not that he really knew himself at all.

“Do you, um, want a piece of gum?” Val asked, blushing slightly. They were on their way to the main hall, later in the day. Valissa and Aldrin had shown Blake most of the Hospital, from the top down.

“Yeah, thanks.” replied Blake. She pulled a pack out of her pocket, and handed him a stick.  “Val… I need to tell you something.”

“You don’t remember me, do you?... It’s… It’s ok. I get it. If… If you want me to give you some space, or something… just say so. I… I understand.” She said, close to tears but trying to hide it.

“Val.” Blake said, putting his hands on her shoulders. “That’s the exact opposite of what I was going to say. I remember… Almost all of our time together. When we met, when we broke out, when we got separated. That’s what I wanted to tell you, Val. I kept my promise.”

“You… You remember?” she asked, relieved. “You remember. You really remember…  What did I say right before we got separated?”

“You said that you’d always find a way to be by my side. No matter what.” He answered.

“Blake…” she said, tears in her eyes. She pulled him into a tight hug, as though she was afraid he would disappear. “I meant it. Every word, Blake, I meant it. I swear. I don’t ever want to get separated from you again…”

“Eh, ah-hem? I don’t mean to interrupt or anything, but…” Aldrin said, walking back into the room, grinning. Blake and Val quickly pulled apart, though they held each other’s hand.  “Come on, they’re waiting. Or should I tell them you want some time alone with your girlfriend?”

“Al! He’s not my… I mean, I’m not his… Urgh, just shut up!” Exclaimed Valissa, blushing furiously. Aldrin grinned again, and Blake looked amused. “And you had better keep your mouth firmly stuck in the ‘shut’ position, or else I will make you regret it.” She said to Blake.

“Ok, fine. I won’t say anything. But… I like how you didn’t actually correct Aldrin.” Blake replied, grinning, before ducking from Valissa’s hand as she tried to smack him.
