"And I think I know who the first victim is!"

Confederate casually walked toward South Carolina with a toothy sharp smile. He stopped in front of her.

"Hey there, little child. Why dont come and play with us~.."

"NO-!" She screamed, but was quickly interrupted by the red hand that came to cover her mouth as she was dragged off the stairs, into the dining room. I was mortified. I couldn't move my feet. I wanted to scream, to throw something, to shout to the others to wake the f#ck up, but couldn't. I was too frozen with fear to do much of anything. I turned back around so my back was against the wall, trying to think of something to say or do as a distraction to get the red country off of SC. I couldnt. Then I heard a familiar voice shout from the stairs.

"Hey! Get your dirty hands OFF OF HER!" It said.

I poked my head around the corner to see Ohio running up toward the Confederate. I decided to help by waking the others up. I didn't realize how long this dilemma would last..

I snuck along the walls to the stairs somehow without getting caught, and screamed as loud as I could. I came back down the stairs nearly tripping over my feet, but there seemed to be something wrong with SC when I looked from Ohio to her. She seemed mad that we were trying to help her.

-Ohio POV-

I woke up to someone shouting. I heard a distinct "NO" but it sounded like the person was cut off. I will say this scared me way more than I wanted it to, but curiosity got the best of me. I turned on the light, tiptoed to the door, careful not to wake Indiana and Illinois, and quietly ran towards the stairs. Before I even could get down the stairs, I saw one of the states -i think- getting pulled back by 2 red hands. One was covering the small figures mouth, the other one around their waist. It was easy to tell that the smaller one was trying to fight back. I ran down the stairs, so fast I almost tripped twice, to see a very angry America trying to pry off a strangely familiar figure who was holding very tight onto..South Carolina!? Oh, this red guys gonna get it.

"Hey! Get your dirty hands OFF OF HER!" I shouted. I ran towards him and started helping Ameri peel the red country's fingers off of South C. I heard footprints run up the stairs behind me. I didn't dare look back at who it was in fear of either getting pushed far back by the Red One, or getting stabbed with the large hunting knife he was carrying with him, he kept swinging it around like it would do something to one of us. But he should know that the knife won't kill us, only hurt. I heard another, very, very loud high pitched scream come from I think the stairs, it was too hard to tell as it was too high pitched and echoed around the house. I looked behind me to see Minnesota- surprisingly enough - almost trip on the last step while running down the stairs. I made eye contact with Minnesota as he came to my side to help me and Ameri with our situation. I looked from him to South C. She actually looked mad that we were trying to help her. That was startling, not gonna lie. I then heard many footprints come down the stairs. I looked up from the floor to see some I think, 13 of us states, helping out the Red country! But then again, some of the other states were trying to help us. The Red Country let go of the poor state, and I notice she's got a long cut going down her arm, a thin red line. It looked angry. I look up at her eyes to find her eyes are still normal. What a relief. I was caught off guard at that moment and I was struck in the stomach by South C's foot. I looked up and saw the red guy leave through the door, I heard someone shout his name, I think they said Confederate? This confederate guy left through the door. I quickly got up and sprinted to the side of the stairs, out of sight. I peek around the corner to see Minnesota crawling to the stairs. There was a state angrily walking towards him, I couldn't tell exactly who it was, but they were getting to Min-Min fast. I ran back to where Min-Min was, and body smashed the other, taller state into the wall, allowing him to have time to get to the stairs. He sat on the fourth one and watched the fighting. You could see he had a black eye, the purple and black surrounding his poor eye, it seemed to have tears ready to fall down his cheeks at any moment. He had a couple bleeding cuts on his arms, probably from the knife, and his hoodie had many holes and blotches of red, his hoodie was a dark, pine tree green, the red I assumed was his blood. Not good. He had many scrapes along his neck and left cheek. I felt bad seeing him in that state, but there was a fight to win.

"I'll check on him after this fight," I told myself. Back into action I go. The state in which I had body slammed actually turned out to be Texas. He tried to body slam me back, but I was quick to get out of his way before being trampled by him. I looked around me and noticed that all the other states on our side had started surrendering. I didn't realize how long the fight had gone on, presumably for 3 days, but I also didn't realize how bad of a shape everyone was in.

Minnesota POV-

I felt a fist hit my right cheek. Hard. It knocked me down and the person who punched me just kept stomping on me and kicking me, giving me no chance to fight back. I was finally able to get some leverage against the state, it was hard to see who, it was too blurry, but I was able to push him back a couple yards. I couldnt feel my legs, my legs were too weak to allow me to stand on them, I tried, I fell. My only option was to crawl to the steps. I could feel the states presence coming up behind me and i started hyperventilating. I was getting too worried, i tried to crawl faster to get away, but I couldnt. I then heard footsteps behind me. And then a loud smack, thump. I whipped my head behind me to see that Ohio had slammed the state, who seemed to be Texas, into a wall. I took that as a chance to reach the stairs. I sat on the fourth stair from the bottom and watched the surrender happen. I felt tears prick my eyes, not because I was realizing we lost, but because I was physically hurt too badly in many places and I feel like I fractured my knee and elbow, and because I feel like I started this. Now we're all at war, and it's all my fault and everyone's gonna hate me, and I shouldn't have screamed for help, and I should've helped more and - I felt a tear roll down my scraped cheek. It stung for a while as the tear rolled down my cheek to my chin, eventually dropping to my knees, which were resting on the stair below me. I stood up and walked upstairs. I went to my room.

"Its all my fault its all my fault it's all my fault its all my fault-" i thought to myself. I was sobbing at this point, when I saw something shiny in the corner of my room near the closet door, in the moonlight coming through the curtains behind me. I got off the bed and walked over to it. It looked like some sort of..razor blade thing? I picked it up. Yep, a razor blade. I walked to the door to turn on the light.

-click-

I walked to the mirror which was to the left of the room, opposite of the closet. I stood in front of the mirror.

"Do it," the voice in my head told me. I decided to listen. I brought the razor to my arm still with tears coming out of my eyes, and pressed into my flesh. A thin red line of blood rose up out of the fresh wound, and ran down my arm.

-one cut-

-two cuts-

-three-

My eyes widened when I realized what I've done. I panicked and ran out of my room and to the bathroom, making sure to lock the door behind me, and to the sink. The blood dripped from my arm into the sink when I took my right hand off the cuts. I wetted a piece of toilet paper with water from the faucet, and held it to the wounds, putting pressure on them. After a couple minutes, the blood seemed to have clotted, so I examined it closely. They seemed to be deeper than I thought, but not so deep to need stitches. I looked in the medicine cabinet for the bandages. Found them. I wrapped my arm making sure they were tight. I put my sleeve back down and unlocked the door and went back to my room.

"Finally, you took forever!" I was startled when I heard Florida, and saw her standing in front me, she seemed to really need to go.

"S...sorry," I said, still startled. She noticed my arm.

"Are..are you okay, Min-Min?" She asked, worry underlining her voice.

"Yes I'm fine," I walked away back to my room, still crying. I cried myself to sleep that night.
