After the feast the prefects escorted the first-years to their common rooms. The Hufflepuff prefects led them to a hallway that they said was just outside the kitchens. Which caused Hailey to wonder how you got into the kitchens. The prefects directed their attention to a nook filled with large barrales.

"To get into the common room you tap the barrel in the middle of the second row rhythmically with your wand, like this." the older boy said, and tapped out a short pattern: one, pause; two, pause; one, two, three. The lid of the barrel he had tapped and the one below it swung inward like a door.

The Hufflepuff common room was filled with a warm glow that came from the fireplace. There were lots of comfortable looking armchairs and sofas that were patterned in the house colors. Wooden tables and chairs provided space to do homework and an empty slightly battered looking bookshelf provided a place to put excess books. High on the walls there were circular windows that appeared to be at ground level. On the walls there were a few paintings, only one of which portrayed a human, as well as many planters that contained both magical and non-magical plants and flowers.

On the opposite side of the room were two circular doors. The prefect pointed the first year hufflepuffs  towards the boys and girls dormitories. The head girl of hufflepuff lead Hailey and Raven to their dorms. They were lucky enough to get a dorm together with two other girls, Orla and Mayra. The four of them talked and laughed as they got ready for bed and went to sleep.
