The emergency room is the primary care department that is responsible for the preliminary handling of patients- who attained small aching paper cuts, who came into terrible hit-and-run accidents, who suffered in the blazing heat from accidental fires, who suffered in horrific child abuse, heartbreaking suicides, and the people who fell in a natural destruction and violence cases.
"Dr. Alencon!" a nurse was trying to beat the hustle and bustle that was growing worse inside the emergency room.
It all started last week where helpless people have been rushing to the hospital complaining about closely similar symptoms; redness and swelling on the certain parts of their skin, extreme pain, high fever and disturbing nausea. Dr. Atlas Alencon had been working straight ever since the incident happened for he was the head specialist in infectious diseases and he was the most knowledgeable about the lethal problem that has been roaming around the city.
"This is impossible! A bug can't invade a flesh in just a very short time-" Lewis had been examining the patients through biopsy- the children who had been crying because of the excruciating pain, pregnant women who have their legs hanging on a cliff, men who had been trying their best to stay strong as the dominant gender, and those who are in the late time of their lives who would prefer to die than to endure the dreadful epidemic, underwent an examination of the tissues and the liquids on their body to determine the cause of the disease.
"Lewis, we should better call Steiner right now," Atlas ordered his younger colleague. It was the very best decision that they should have done earlier where the mortality is still low.
"Alright doc, alright," with her shaking voice, she said. As a new resident doctor, Lewis was still in agitation when difficulties happen, that was why she had a bit trouble with dialing Dr. Steiner's home phone.
"Oh please help us!" The glass door swiftly glided open to let a woman come in that was holding a child who was demanding for attention with the loud and hurting outcry.
A nurse quickly assisted and did an examination before he called for Atlas.
"The same symptoms doc. There is tenderness beyond the apparent margin of the infection, the redness and pain is existent. Temperature's 38.6 degrees Celsius, this is the same thing we had been working on."
As a rational approach, Dr. Alencon commanded him right away. "Forward to operating room without delay for debridement if found not questionable to operation," his deep voice was still audible although the indistinct noises were fighting against it.
"She's coming," Dr. Perdue pertained to the head epidemiologist of the hospital who was on her way to restore humanity.

It was almost 12 in the morning when Atlas had the time to rest inside his hospital office. His limbs were pretty painful, and he was already very exhausted but there was still no progress with the remedy of the epidemic. All the hospitals in the city already had no vacant rooms for patients. It was so worrisome that the problem was increasing every second therefore time should not be wasted.
He was sipping from his warm cup of coffee that would help him stay up all night to do a lot of work for the hospital when a sudden knock was heard on the door.
"Please do come in," he stated upon placing his cup on the table beside his stethoscope before he glanced at the figure who pulled his door open.
"Good morning?" a lady with a small stature was smiling widely at him, her vivid opal hues were glistening against the dim room, and her short black hair was neatly combed; she was indeed beautiful.
