Monkey D Luffy, while he didn't look like much, he was actually a devil fruit user, he called himself a Rubber human, and after he sent Alvida flying (literally) you showed your self and offered to join his crew, and he gladly accepted you as his first mate, and first friend on this new chapter of your lives

Y:and now here we are, stuck on a tiny boat, Me, Luffy and a young nerdy boy named Koby a poor kid who was enslaved by Alvida, and were floating in no particular direction
Luffy: Yo, (Y) who are you talking to?
Y: No one in particular captain, so any idea where we're going, or are we seeing who can go the longest without starving?
Koby: actually if we keep going in this direction we should reach a marine base soon
Koby: but of course!, navigation is one of the bare minimum skill all sailors need
this caused your captain to laugh
Koby: this is no time to be laughing Luffy, this base has a dangerous man being held in it!, his name is pirate hunter Roronoa Zoro, a man who chopped up bounties like a bloodthirsty beast, people say he's a demon in human form!
Y: Sounds like a cool guy to join our crew
Koby: HE KILLS PIRATES, AND YOUR A PIRATE!
Y: *shrugs* meh

we arrive at a marine base as Koby tries to tell Luffy it's a bad idea to try and recruit Zoro , as Luffy ask around town to find out more on this Zoro guy , but Zoro's name scares the people, but the strange thing is even the name of the islands Marine Captain, Axe Hand Morgan causes fear, now that's concerning ,but your captain insist on exploring the base
