"Right.. a plan.. Um.." Sky started to say, looking like she had no idea what was going on.
I took a seat at her left side, nodding. "To be completely honest, I suck at planning.. and we have no idea if the people here are watching us on cameras or something."
"True-" Brady mumbled, rubbing his chin. He fell silent, a thoughtful look on his face.
I sighed and couldn't stop myself from hugging Sky. She seemed surprised at first before slowly relaxing and hugging me back. I was glad we could finally do this, but of course, I hated the situation. She seemed awkward so I made myself pull away. Of course she'd be awkward, it was our first time meeting and we've hardly been in the same room for three minutes and I was already deciding to hug her. Not the smartest move.
She rubbed her arm and I looked over at Brady. "Hello? Brady?"
He didn't respond.
"Bradyyyyyyy-"
Still no answer.
I huffed and stood, moving to walk in front of him. I poked his nose. "BRADY."
He jumped and looked up. "What was that for?"
I crossed my arms over my chest. "It was for not listening. Have you been thinking up a plan or what?"
"No. I was thinking about football. I thought you said not to think of a plan because the people might be listening?" He scoffed.
Sky stifled a soft giggle and I honestly had nothing to say back. I turned on my heel and started to walk around to get a better look at where we were.
The room we were in had one.. semicircle-ish shaped white couch, a mirror on the wall opposite, and a stained wooden coffee table. The next room over was a small bathroom that connected two bedrooms. One bedroom had two beds and the other had one. The covers weren't made up and that triggered something in me so I walked over and started to make up the beds. Mostly to keep myself busy.
I hadn't realized Sky and Brady had both followed me until Brady decided to chime into my personal time.
"Mat? You finished being our cleaning lady yet?"
I turned and glared at him. "Stop being so sassy. I don't need to add you to my hate list."
The two laughed again and I muttered something under my breath. Sky walked over to me, making me relax.
"What are you even cleaning for?"
"I'm cleaning to.. one: keep myself busy. And two: to help my brain relax from going crazy. Also, I have never wished to be in our vampire world more than now."
Brady's face showed his apparent confusion and Sky nodded. "Me too, honestly."
"I'd be a knight- I'd be so cool-" I let my mind drift off, mostly thinking about being a knight and a vampire and other crap my brain can decide to make up.
Sky giggled again and turned to Brady. "You get the other room."
"I knew that- I wasn't planning on sleeping in the same room as one of you anyways-"
"Good." I stuck out my tongue. I liked this, not caring about anything that was actually going on. Not thinking about my parents and how sad they would be to find I was missing. Dang it-
My playful expression slowly faded as I started to think of things I really didn't want to. I shuddered a little bit. Sky took notice and snapped in my ear.
"Mat- Come back to us-"
"Okay, okay-" I lightly pushed her arm away, shaking the thoughts out of my head. She seemed puzzled now, and I didn't want to tell her what was going on in my mind. I shook my head. She seemed to figure out I didn't want to talk about it and nodded once, turning to look at Brady.
"I wonder if they have any paper or art supplies here.."
"I saw some in a drawer," Brady replied swiftly. He hurried out of the room after grabbing Sky's hand. I watched them go, making sure they were out of sight before I hugged myself, plopping down onto one bed.
There's a way out of here, Mat. Don't give up yet. Try and remember what Sherlock taught you. Even though it wasn't that much-
"Scan the surroundings.. done. Wait, great now I feel like I'm in Legend. Ughhhh-" I slipped off of the bed and onto the floor. Sometimes, I like putting myself in books. Other times, I absolutely do not.
Be like Ed-
"Nooo-" I groaned softly and sat up slowly. "No. You're not Eden. You're not Anden either. Definitely not June. Hh.. not even Tess. Okay-" I look up to the door to make sure my two roommates weren't there to listen to me ramble. I had to find something to busy myself with, as soon as fricking possible.
I pushed myself up to my feet again and opened the drawers around the room. There were clothes in the dresser and a notepad in another drawer with pens and pencils and erasers. I didn't exactly have motivation to draw. Maybe write?
Yeah- do that! Write about Noah- or write what it would be like if you were a knight fighting for your life.. or staying in a castle trapped all day..
I liked that idea. It'd definitely keep me busy. So that's exactly what I did. I sat right back down on the floor after snatching up a notepad and pencil. I wrote and wrote for what seemed like hours, kind of wishing I had some music to listen to. I can't get everything I want, though.
It wasn't until I heard hurried footsteps coming towards me and a scream from the rest area that I stopped. I looked up to see a panicked Brady, running from some guards into me and Spy's room.
"Mat- You need to r-"
One guard cut him off when he grabbed his arm and held him in place.
My eyes widened and I tried to get up to run, but these people were quicker. They grabbed my arms and roughly pulled me out the door. I grunted and tried to struggle but nothing would work. I saw Sky being pushed out of the room, following by Brady.
A hand slapped over my mouth after I tried to scream and I took my chance. I bit down hard enough to draw blood, making this person let go of me. I only had enough time to get out of the door before I was kicked in the knee.
I toppled over to the floor, vulnerable again.
(Honestly this was kind of a filler chapter.. Sorry 🙃)
