Two young cars sat side by side, their eyes locked on the old fashioned tv before them. They'd watched this VCR tape so many times, that the two of them had lost count. "And he wins again! Give it up for The Fabulous Hudson Hornet! This is the third piston cup he's won, can he win a fourth? Stay tuned for the next race folks!"

"That was great! Did you see the way he flew over that rookie!" Strip blurted out, eyes full of excitement.

"Yeah! He did a flip and landed it! That could've gone so wrong, but it didn't," Ophelia gasped

Strip smiled at his friend, driving towards a close by window. He glanced around at the scenery, sighing, "Just think about it 'Lia, that'll be us in a few years."

Ophelia drove over to him, letting out a giggle, "A few years? Try maybe 10! We're only 7 Strip, we've got along way to go."

Ophelia always admired watching the Fabulous Hudson Hornet, of course she wanted to be a race car like him. But there was just one thing, she was a girl. There weren't many race cars that were girls, aside from Louise Nash. Racing just wasn't her thing, it was more suited to Strip who was crazy about it. She just wanted to help him succeed his dreams of becoming a race car.

Strip looked to his friend, looking rather unsure. He knew that a lot of race cars came from California, those big places. Was it possible for a car from a small country town to become a race car?

"I'm sure we could make it Strip, just look at the fabulous Hudson hornet. He's from a small country town and he's a famous race car as well," and she explained, hoping to give him some sort of hope on the situation.

Strip gave a simple nod, what she was saying was indeed true. The Hudson Hornet had come from a small town, a small town just like theirs. With a lot of hard work, training, dreams, he'd surely be able to become a famous race car just like his idol.

"Well, guess we ought' to start training now. Come on, let's go!" Strip shouted, heading towards the front door.

Ophelia drove close behind him, letting out a soft sigh. "Strip, it's the middle of the night. We can go out now, our parents will freak. We can start first thing tomorrow morning, it's the weekend tomorrow. So, we've got two whole days to start."

Strip stopped, turning around and looking at her. She did have a point, they wouldn't be able to see anything in the pitch black. "Alright, tomorrow morning. As soon as we wake up-"

"How about after breakfast? Then we can head out and look for somewhere to train, training on an empty stomach wouldn't be ideal Strip."

"Alright, alright. We'll head out after breakfast then."

Both young cars agreed that'd be the best idea, they'd just have to very careful though. Most cars in the town they lived didn't believe in dreams like competing in the piston cup, those dreams were often shunned upon by many other cars in the community.

"Strip, Ophelia. Come on you two, lights out in 5 minutes, head on into bed now," An older Plymouth Superbird drove towards the two younger cars, his green coat shimmering in the light.

"Alright Pa, come Lia lets head to bed."

"That sounds like a plan," The young mustang murmured, turning to look at Strip's father. "Goodnight Mr Weathers, thanks for letting stay the night."

Strip's father let out a chuckle, Ophelia was always so formal with names. "Ophelia, you can call me Patrick. You know Sandra and I enjoy having you over, you're Strip's best friend. Now go on, run to bed."

Ophelia smiled at Patrick before driving down the hall, heading in the direction of Strip's room. If only he knew what they were planning to do tomorrow, while he was relatively supportive of his sons choice, if he were to come out and bring up the subject of racing in the piston cup he'd most likely avoid the whole conversation. That or he'd ignore the entire conversation, he believed in his son but he just didn't believe that he'd be able to make it to the piston cup. He didn't do it to be mean, he just did it to protect his sons feelings.
