Two words. Just two words can crumble one's whole world, his whole world.
When his mother left him with his abusive father,she said these two words. When his best friend saw him getting bullied and did nothing,they uttered these two words too and now the only person he loved the most in this whole world,his only lifeline, is also saying these words. Nothing good is ever going to come in his life when these two words are involved.

He stared at his lover stone faced.

His lover,James, gulped a heavy lump of saliva and continued."I can't do this ",he gestured his finger at the two of them,"anymore ". Severus sighed inside but didn't let his emotions leak. He knew somewhere inside his heart that this day would come,sooner or later.

"I think I like a girl and I want to have a serious relationship with her."said James.

"Looks like you've made up your mind. So just letting me know that we won't meet each other again like this?",Severus asked.
His whole body wanted to give in. He just wanted to hug James and beg him not to leave. He wanted to lay with James hand in hand while James whispered sweet nothings in his ears.

But he didn't let any emotion show in his face. He has years of practice afterall. James looked at him like a wounded puppy. Those sharp hazel eyes full of hurt. James's phone rang at this time and both of them knew who it was.
James's face lit up when he saw the name on his screen and confirmed that it was his new lover. Severus's heart dropped. 'so there is no chance afterall', he thought. James told him that he had to go and meet his girlfriend. Severus just looked at him with dead eyes.

"Never come back. You're not welcome here ever again."

James looked really sad." Are you going to let me go just like that? I thought you'd fight for me more."James asked.

"And what's the point of it? No matter how much I try you'll never waver from your decision. So I'm just saving both of us a considerate amount of time."

James slumped his back. He understood what Severus meant.

"Go on then. Get out. Your girlfriend must be waiting " ,Severus tried to get James out of his room. James looked back and pulled Severus by the waist in the sweetest of kiss they ever shared.

When James pulled back,Severus immediately missed the soft warm lips that was on his a moment ago. "I do love you Severus,but I fancy her more. " and with that James was gone.

Severus slumped on the floor and broke out into tears. All loving and trusting someone gave him,was pain. He clenched his fists and determined with his tearful eyes and broken heart that he'll never fall in love ever again. He won't let anyone hurt him ever again even if it meant hurting them. And with that he let the darkness consume his heart.

When James opened the newspaper he saw the all too familiar beautiful face on the front page. That person was called the most ruthless officer in the whole fleet ,who was famous for not having any feelings.

James was folding the newspaper when a 5 years old boy and 3 years old girl came running to him while calling him papa. He smiled and looked at his wife who was cooking in the kitchen. He had the most perfect life anyone could ever ask for. Two wonderful kids and a beautiful,generous wife.

Yet he sometimes felt empty. He missed someones touch,someones warmth. He shrugged that thought out of his head and looked at his perfect family. He smiled a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
