i groaned as my alarm clock went off, i rolled over and turned it off before unlocking my phone and seeing a text from jayden.

i quickly got out of bed and looked for something to wear for school, i decided on a basic t-shirt and some jeans. i was slipping on my shoes when i heard a loud honk from outside, meaning that jayden was here.
i grabbed my bookbag and raced downstairs, i was about to open the front door when i stopped in my tracks. on the couch was my younger sister haley, she was sprawled out while nadia's little sister ruby had her head placed in haley's lap, both sleeping peacefully.
i smiled at the sight before walking over to them, i picked up the blanket that had fallen on the floor and draped it over them before exiting the house quietly.
i saw jayden's car parked in the driveway, i walked over to her and got inside, she looked over at me and smiled. "took you long enough." she said as she pulled out of the driveway. "shut up." i muttered jokingly as i leaned my head up against the window.
it didn't take us that long to arrive at school, we had about atleast 20 minutes until the bell rung. me and jayden entered the school and walked to our lockers.
as i was shoving my books into my locker i heard loud whistling coming from behind me, i groaned knowing who it was already. i whipped around to see her.
mackenzie ziegler, my worst enemy since elementary school, ive always hated her, she was so cocky, she roamed around the school thinking she could do whatever the hell she wants.
"well, well, well, look who we have here, if it isn't bartels and leBRAT." she said smirking. leBRAT was a nickname she gave me in elementary and i guess it just stuck.
"fuck you." i spat, not in the mood for her games today, she slowly raised one of her eyebrows before walking closer towards me, now only inches away from my face.
"want me to baby?" she whispered, sending shivers down my spine. i let out a shaky breath, i knew she was only trying to get under my skin, and so far, as much as i hate to admit it, it was working.
i pushed her away from me, knowing my cheeks were flushed red. "not over my dead body." i muttered as i glared at her. "whatever you say, princess." she replied as she sent me a wink before strutting down the hallway, god i hated her.
"don't pay attention to her, she's just trying to get you worked up." jayden said as closed her locker. i slowly nodded before shutting mine. not a second later the bell rung, signaling that class was starting.
"ill see you at lunch." jayden said before running off to class, i took off in the direction opposite of her, i had math for first period and i absolutely hated it, it's even worse that mackenzie's in that class too.
i had her in almost all of my classes, it's like the teachers are purposely trying to make my life a living hell.
i sighed as i walked into the classroom and took a seat in the way back, i scanned the room and my eyes landed on mackenzie, she was sitting in the front beside her bestfriend maisy stella.
she noticed me staring at her and flashed me one of her cocky grins, i only rolled my eyes before looking away, trying to ignore the weird feeling in my stomach.

i waved goodbye to jayden as she pulled out my driveway, the school day was finally over and i was so glad that i wouldn't have to see mackenzie's face for the rest of the day.
i unlocked the front door and entered the house, the first thing i saw was haley and ruby on the couch, haley was awake but ruby was still asleep, i watched as haley raked her fingers through ruby's hair.
"hey anns, how was school?" haley asked. "it was good, where's mom?" i asked as i closed the front door behind me. "running some errands." haley replied as she let out a yawn.
i slowly nodded my head before making my way upstairs, i opened my bedroom door and dropped everything on the floor before collapsing onto my bed.
i felt my phone buzz in my pocket, i took it out and saw it was a notification from the groupchat im in with my friends.
