Akaashi, I miss you alot, you know?
I think about you alot, and how we could have been so much more, if only our significant others currently hadn't stepped in. I'm currently kinda sick with a terminal illness so yeah, I really want to see you before I go, you know? Visit me one last time, my setter?
-Bokuto Koutarou
P.s. the address and room number is attached behind on a slip

Bokuto-san, I'm coming. Give me a few days to pack and prepare please. Why didn't you tell me sooner? I missed you too, Koutarou. I'm coming, wait for me. I'll let my wife know.
-Akaashi Keiji

Bokuto read the letter Akaashi had sent in reply, and a soft smile graced his pale face. He had no one left in this world other than Akaashi when he'd lost his wife a few years back. His hair was down, and his eyes were sunken, his muscles lost, now sickly and frail. He missed Akaashi, the only person he had left, so much that his heart ached and his whole body felt sore all over with pain.

He looked at a bag beside his hospital bed, filled with letters and letters and more letters, all addressed to Akaashi since the day he and Akaashi got married to other women. At first it was friendly gestures, asking how life was for Akaashi, and then came mourning for his wife, then came his rekindled love for the ravennette. His letters passionately described how he felt in every moment of his life, how emotions seemed to overwhelm him. In the end though, he never did send the letters to Akaashi. He didn't dare to, for fear that he might fall in love with Akaashi and bring unhappiness to Akaashi and his wife.

Bokuto sighed weakly, then coughed, and fell back onto the bed, sinking into the soft material, frail, tired, and lacking of energy. He eagerly awaited Akaashi Keiji's arrival, looking out the window beside his bed, watching the sky grow pink, the sun setting and falling beneath the horizon line.

-

"Bokuto-san!" Akaashi burst into the room, panting with lethargy and jet lag. He had run as fast as possible after alighting the taxi to reach Bokuto. Bokuto's head slowly turned to face Akaashi, once his lover. He weakly grinned and gestured for Akaashi to sit beside him, shifting over to one side of the bed. Akaashi, meanwhile, was frozen, his face constricted with many emotions that he couldn't speak of, all welling up at the sight of such a sickly Bokuto, who used to be the ace, the strongest, the happiest, the mightiest.

He forced himself to move and sit on the bed, trying his best not to cry. Bokuto reached up and Akaashi ducked his head down, Bokuto running a thin hand through Akaashi's raven curls. "Bokuto-san," Akaashi repeated. "I'm here." Bokuto nods. "I... know..." His voice is soft and slow as if it's consuming large amounts of his energy to even talk. Akaashi couldn't do it anymore. He faced away from Bokuto as tears fell, staining the hospital blanket a darker shade. Bokuto's eyes well up with tears as well. "A...Kaa...Shi..." Akaashi wipes his eyes and turns back, smiling at Bokuto. "Yes?"

Bokuto smiles as wide as he can, and says, "I'm... so... glad... you... came..." His eyes struggle to stay awake. "I'm... kinda... sleepy... Will... you... visit... me... to...mor...row?"

"Yes, Bokuto-san, I will. I missed you, I missed you, I missed you so, so, so bad," Akaashi takes an unstable breath, shaky with tears, free falling.

"Koutarou. Make it to tomorrow, okay?"

"Of... course... Kei... Ji..." Bokuto takes a deep breath, and hesitantly says, "I... love... you... it's... okay... if... you... don't... love... me... back...... Goodbye, Kei...ji... I'm... going... to... sleep..." His eyes flutter shut and his breathing becomes stable and even, tear stains drying on his cheeks.

"Koutarou..." Akaashi caresses Bokuto's cheek, then kisses him on the forehead and leaves after listening to the constant beeping of the heart monitor.

-

Halfway through the night, the heart monitor stops beeping, and instead lets out a long, agonising siren, and Bokuto dies peacefully in his sleep. The medical team rushes in, and they do everything necessary, and after a while, the bed is empty. A nurse notices the bag of envelopes, all addressed to one person, and she sees a note outside the bag, asking whoever possessed the bag to give it to Akaashi Keiji, who will be visiting that room the next day. The nurse's heart squeezes with sympathy, aching.

-

Akaashi brings flowers the next day, unknowing to everything that has happened. He enters the room, and when he doesn't hear a beeping sound at the entrance, his heart falls. He doesn't dare to move to look at the bed. He takes deep breaths, deep, shaky breaths. Then he looks, and his heart crashes to the bottom of his very core, shattering. He collapses, the bouquet comes apart, and he's trying not to cry, but the tears come out anyway.

"Bokuto..." He utters.

"BOKUTO!" He shrieks, sobs racking his body, as he cries uncontrollably.

The nurse from the midnight before rushes in, and attempts to soothe a very distraught and heartbroken Akaashi, before she passes him the bag and leaves him be in the room to cry. Akaashi reads all the letters, one by one, hours and hours spent in the room, and his heart just breaks and breaks into smithereens.

One letter, at the very bottom, he notices, is written the night before. As he reads it, more tears than ever spill, and his whole body aches with emotional pain.

Akaashi.
I don't have alot of energy left, so I just want to say thank you for everything, and I love you.
I love you, so much.
-Bokuto
