AU where Oikawa is a ghost
and Iwaizumi is one whose eyes are opened
THANK YOU SM FOR 4K READS AAAAAAA

My name is Iwaizumi Hajime. Since young, I've been seeing...unnatural things. I went into exorcism for a little but then I gave up. It was at fifteen when I discovered the roles of reapers and mediators, and I chose to be a reaper helper. A live human, as a reaper trainee. That is I, and since I work with Satan, I unlock powers whereby I can manifest weapons out of thin air, or so it seems. It is made from the food I consume, which are then reconstructed and rebuilt into a substance only reapers and Satan himself may wield.

I send any dark ghouls I see rampaging into deep pits of hell, and I also send freshly dead people into hell. Sometimes, the nice way, sometimes they prefer the difficult way. Occasionally, I get assignments for extremely dangerous ghosts' souls, and this time, the soul I was assigned even has a name.

Oikawa... Tooru. Japanese. It seems I won't have to travel too far this time. I read through the assignment, and I prepare for something wholly unhuman.

"Hi!" Shimmering particles harden into an opaque being, and features begin assembling. Chestnut brown hair and chocolate eyes, pale milky skin, long blinking lashes. I walk past the ghost, assuming it's waiting for an angel or perhaps an archangel to arrive, seeing how strong it is, it must be one of the purer ones. The features finish assembling, and I do a double take. Pulling out my assignment card discreetly, I triple check, glancing between the ghost and the card.

Him? That milky skinned innocent looking ghost? That's my dangerous assignment? I laugh and smirk a little. My, my. This will be easy. My scythe forms as I reach my hand out and using telekinesis I slice him clean in half. That should do it-- I freeze as I realise he's materialized elsewhere, now beside me in two pieces. "That isn't very nice, you know? Considering I waited two lifetimes for you." This ghost has went through two lifetimes for me? What's that supposed to mean?

The only thing I can gather after a long while is that he must be extremely strong to be able to survive this long in the world where reapers and archangels are getting stronger on a day by day basis. I immediately make for the nearby station, and reconsider my life decisions.

"So, Hajime-chan, I see you've appeared with the same name as you had when we knew each other in our first lifetimes." A soft tenor voice whispers in my ear, and I leap a good few meters away.

"Hajime-chan? Are you okay?" A cold hand touches mine and pulls me up. I look up.

Holy.

Fxck.

He's tangible. How damn strong of a ghost-- I feel a sudden chill run through my whole body. The ghost, Oikawa, I mean, looks scared all of a sudden, and flees to god knows where. All of a sudden, a different type of nasty cold chill breaks throughout my whole body and I can tell all the people in the station can feel it too because whispers start flying everywhere and looks are cast left and right frantically. A huge presence swirls massively around all of us, and I feel myself tense. This ghost is way too strong!

I use my emergency skillset and search for other reapers in the area and come up with a few, and they're all already here, but seem to be stuck outside. Meanwhile, this huge area taking up ghost is materializing at the entrance of the train station, right above the flight of stairs infront of me.

I make a scythe, but too late  the ghost is past me already, pushing me out of his barrier and leaving me seeing absolutely nothing as he blocks me from that section of the living world, and I see an empty train station, but I know better. I zip around trying to look for clues as to where his opening in the barrier is, and everytime I find one, there's already another layer. After a long while, the barrier breaks down and there lay the corpse of every single human which used to be living creatures, life sucked out of them. I called the cleanup team (a.k.a. reapers who are weak and need to do something else to make up for their lack of numbers). A few minutes after the rampage, Oikawa drifts over and materializes. His form looks more opaque and solid than ever.
