"Rachel!"
"Rachel, where are you going?" My best friend, Becca, asked me. I turned to face her. She looked excited for the dance tonight. It was supposed to be special after all.
"I'm going to get ready." I told her, just as happy as she was. She frowned for a moment and thought.
"Well, can't you just come over to my house? That way you can help me get ready too." I nodded to her with a smile.
"Of course, I just have to get my dress first." With that I waved to her, and she did the same. I turned back to the parking lot. I was happy to find someone blocking my way though. I almost bumped into him, and he smiled at me. His blue-green eyes looking directly into mine. I felt like he could see all my heart's dreams, and he wanted them for me.
"Hey, Ray. Where you going?" I smiled. I would have asked if he heard my conversation with Becca, but of course he did. Still, he chose to ask me anyway.
"I'm going to get some stuff to get ready at Becca's place." I smiled back at him, looking up and trying to see his silouhette through the sun's glare behind him. He was 6'3" after all.
"Aww, but babe, I hoped you could get ready at my house," he pouted his lip at first and then a smirk as he chuckled the second part. I knew why he wanted me over there, and I told him not until I was ready. I slapped his chest and then I turned to walk away. He grabbed me around my waist and spun me back to look at him, knowing that I was only joking. He got really close to me, and he whispered to me.
"Ray, I was only joking. Please stay with me for a while?" I went in to close the space between us, but I didn't want him to think that I was actually staying for that reason. We still had a dance to attend, and I had to get ready. Instead I kissed his cheek and whispered back.
"So pretty boy, I'll see you later."
I tapped his nose with a kiss, which wasn't too hard since we were already so close together. Then I turned around and skipped away. Probably driving him crazy. That was it though. That was the boy. My high school romance. Jamie.
So far we had been dating for eight-teen months. He had told me two weeks ago that he loved me. I had told him the same thing, even though I already knew a week before he did. I was totally, and completely in love with him. Becca was convinced of it two weeks after we were really going out! I guess she always knew what was coming.
