My heart must have stopped beating when I heard something had happened to Jack.
"He's in critical condition." The words were burning in my skull.
No, I can't lose him! Not after he just proposed to me, we are just starting our lives together, this can't be happening!!
I ran out of the house thinking about Jack and whether or not he was going to die. I jumped in my car and sped like a maniac to the hospital. I didn't stop at intersections, I went through red lights, people were blowing their horns at me, but I didn't care.
I could feel the tears streaming down my cheeks, and they were burning. My face was hot, and I felt lightheaded. I had a bad feeling that he wasn't going to make it. I instantly thought of what the being I had summoned had said about Jack and the warning he gave me. My stomach dropped.
I pulled right up to the hospital doors and jumped out of me car. A man started yelling at me, but I was running inside.
"Miss! You can't leave your car here! Miss-"
I didn't care about my car or where I left it. My fiancé was in pain, a parking spot hardly qualified. I ran to a nurse and asked her where I could find him.
"Ma'am, please sit down, he's in the ER and you can't see him unless-"
"I'm his fiancée! You have to let me see him! And don't call me ma'am!" I was yelling at the nurse and attracting attention.
"Miss, please quiet down, you're disturbing everyone." The nurse insisted.
"I don't care! My fiancé is in critical condition and might die! How can you tell me to sit down and wait?!" I was getting so mad at this bitch. But just as I tried to go around her, she put up her hands to hold me back. "Let go of me!"
"Miss, please be reasonable! Security, please detain this young woman!" Are you kidding me? Did she just call the security to 'detain' me? I decided to be really unreasonable.
"Jack!" I screamed his name down the hallway. The nurse gave me the dirtiest look. I mean if looks could kill, I'd be dead on the spot.
I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around me, and a cool, calm, masculine voice telling me to relax. I looked at his face and realized he looked familiar. I screamed Jack's name again.
"Jack! Somebody please help me, Jack!" Then a doctor came rushing towards me.
"Excuse me, are you the fiancée?" His eyes were full of sorrow and frustration.
"Yes, I am. Please tell me he's okay!" I started crying again.
"Let her go, sir. Come with me miss."
"Silver, my name's Silver. How's Jack, please don't lie to me to protect me. Please be honest with me. Is he going to die?" My voice cracked a bit on the last word.
"He's severely hurt. The paramedics told me that a tractor trailer had collided with his car head on. The driver had a heart attack and lost control of his vehicle and swerved into oncoming traffic. Your fiancé didn't have to time to get out of the way."
I covered my mouth with my hand and gasped, "Oh my god."
"He has four cracked rips, his left knee is broken and the skin is all torn up, he must have hit his head on the steering wheel because he has severe head trauma and open gashes all over his face. The firemen had to use the jaws of life to rescue him, and they had to tear apart the entire front seat just to get him out safely. His knuckles are all cut up, and his right leg is broken in three places. I have a great team of fellow surgeons and we will do our best to save him. But first, we'll need to get some x-rays and cat scans done."
