A deadly dance- that's what I'd call my game throughout the tunnels; swerving to avoid being seen and throwing gas bombs over my shoulder. It was slightly fun the first few times, but soon the deaths began to weigh on me the more I realized they had indeed had family as well, and I had robbed those families of a father. Or mother. Or son/daughter. You couldn't really tell with the Chitauri, and I didn't exactly want to look for the answer.
Above I could hear the screams and cries of dying Chitauri, as the rest of the team cut through them. I wondered mildly if they felt the same way about killing these creatures, meanwhile tossing yet another grenade over my back.
By now I was out of all my gas supplies, so I was spraying pepper spray and every once and a while throwing an actual grenade. That was, until I ran out of both and was forced to return top-side, where the gore of a battle in procession reminded me of my terrible sins. I'm going to hell. I thought weakly, then shook my head and pulled myself onto the gravel tarmac.
I ducked as a brightly painted shield flew over my head, decapitating one of the beasts. "Sorry!" Captain called, leaping down from the bus in all of his star-spangled glory and pulling his weapon from the now-dead creature. I laughed.
"No problem, Spandex." I teased, clapping him on the back and pulling moisture from the air, freezing it into a bridge. A gust of wind pulled me into the air and I found myself riding the transparent material. Well that's new.
I glanced back as Steve and winked, calling a "Good luck!", over my shoulder as the enveloping crystals carried me across the city. Below scenes of chaos passed below me, and the smell of death was overpowering. If you'd never played witness to such horror, I would suggest keeping it that way.
Natasha looked to be having some issues with a Chitauri who was about to decapitate her, so I commanded the ice to drop me, and drop me it did. I almost broke my face, but I did distract the beast long enough for the assassin to snap its neck.
"Nice one," I praised, punching my fist backwards into the skull of another beast. She nodded and with a coy smile and a shot of her gun, replied.
"Not so bad yourself." My hand yanked itself from the head, and the still body fell to the ground. Inky black blood was smeared over my white costume, though it was quickly being absorbed. It was a cleaning feature of the suit, which I loved.
A significant roar sounded overhead, rivaled by one all too familiar. "Bruce!" I called, then decided it really wasn't the time. The giant-space-fish-thing rammed straight into the Hulk's fist, which in turn, smashed the creature's head into the pavement. I jumped out of the way as jagged pieces of armor flew my way.
The Hulk shot me a look, and I decided it was time to go before I got beaten up by my ally. A Chitauri took advantage of my distracted state, and leapt onto my back, digging the smooth groove of the bayonet against my neck.
The cold metal felt wonderful, truly it did, but the best part was- it gave me power. I sapped all of the frosty material I could from the weapon, before flipping the intruder over my back and onto the pavement, where I proceeded to do a WWE style body slam, digging my elbow straight into its heart, if it existed.
Tony dropped to the ground beside me, metal suit sputtering. "Any chance you can charge this thing up?" He questioned, not giving me time to answer before blasting the side of my face. Or at least close to it. I didn't even need to turn to know that there was another alien behind me.
"Of course." I replied, freezing his suit over then cracking away the ice, leaving the man and his suit at 100%. "Go kick some alien ass!" was called to Tony as he leapt into the air and flew off into the direction of a Leviathan, which I had found they were called.
