Just Breath (BNHA x Author)

i looked at you and saw myself... (flashback)

(This is a flashback to when the recommendation exam was taking place)

I took a breath walking in to the arena. I couldn't believe what i was doing. I was finally taking the recommendation entrance exam. If I screwed up this would be it for me. I had gone to a local cafe I came across on my way to the school, and ordered my self some boba tea, which I had just discovered I enjoyed. I had on a fitted black tracksuit, the recommended attire for the occasion. As i finally got where I needed to be my anxiety shot up immediately.

S- so many people...

I went to the nearest bench and threw out my finished tea and put down my duffel bag that had a change of clothes and a water bottle in it for when i was done. I took a deep breath and started my stretches. I was so in the zone with what I was doing I didnt noticed someone was coming up to me. 

"GOOD MORNING! MY NAME IS INASA YOARASHI!" someone who was completely bent over in a bow yelled at me. Was he.... bleeding...? I yelped startled.

"A-ARE YOU OKAY?!" i said covering my mouth  seeing the blood that came from his forehead.

"I'M TOTALLY FINE! ANYWAYS... WHATS YOUR NAME??" He said continuing his loud volume.

"U-uh... Hannah Fuentes..." I said shaken a bit. He seemed nice enough, with a LOT of energy. 

"NICE TO MEET YOU!" He said getting up from his bow finally and extending his hand towards me. I was hesitant at first but eventually shook his hand with a smile.

"All recommendation exam students please meet at the dirt track in 10 minutes" The intercom spoke.

"GOOD LUCK TO YOU FUENTES-SAN!" he said bowing again and taking off. 

"T-to you too!" I yelled back with an awkward smile. His fiery spirit will definitely make him a great hero.

Everyone had lined up on the track start line, and I could see my line of competition. I saw the boy I had met earlier he seemed determined. I also saw a boy with peppermint like hair which also caught my attention. His expression was stoic, but when i looked at his eyes i seemed to see something interesting. Seems he's got problems behind his expressionless face, a lot of emotion for that matter. This was something I've been able to do for a while. No, it wasnt my quirk, but just something i could do. I've studied people behaviors and facial expressions for years that I can uncover itty bitty details about someones personal life and their problems without even speaking to them. For example, seeing Taylee in my class on the first day of school, I was able to detect he had severe paranoia from the way his eyes constantly danced across the room and the way his hands and legs shook in his seat. Meeting Katie, I could tell she was insecure about her body from they way she carried herself and her constant wearing of baggy clothes. Is this an invasion of privacy? Possibly. I like to look at it as a way to help and understand society better. 

'They boy with the half and half hair does a VERY good job at hiding his issues, but not enough to hide it from me. This one felt familiar in a sense, but to an extreme level... maybe-'

"Welcome to the U.A. recommendation practical exam! You all have already taken the written test and are now moving on the the next stage of getting excepted into U.A. High, the most prestigious hero academy in the world! The test goes like this, you will all race six at a time through a three-kilometer long obstacle course using your quirks. Your times will be recorded by pro hero President Mic." The man announcing pointed to the side where Mic waved.

I ironically got grouped with Yoarashi and blank face and a couple other kids. I got the number 69 and put on my track suit.

"Racers get into position! On your marks, get set, GO!" The whole race was kinda a blur, i had used my quirk to levitate my self forward really fast as if I was flying. The only thing I really remember was how it ended. Yoarashi was ahead of me and candy cane was ahead of him, I quickly decided, since they where both almost side by side i could use them as a launch pad near the end to cross the finish line first. They  where both so distracted with each other they didnt see me coming at all, and my plan worked perfectly. When they where close enough to each other i boosted my speed and lifted myself higher off the ground stepped on their backs (which i felt really bad for) and pushed myself off them, crossing the finish line in first place and sliding back onto the ground. When it over I was breathing heavily, and I could feel a bit of blood dripping from my nose, probably from that little "boost" before i launched myself at the end. I could see Yoarashi coming up towards me while I was having a really embarrassing coughing fit.

"FUENTES-SAN! I JUST WANTED TO SAY YOU WHERE AMAZING BACK THERE AND REALLY  SHOWED A LOT OF PASSION! YOU HAVE MY DEEPEST RESPECTS!" He said doing yet another hardcore bow. lol.

"Aha- *cough* thank *cough* you so much. You did really amazing *cough cough* also. My voice shaky a little from all of that. "Oh yeah..." my coughs finally dying, "sorry fro stepping on your back, I hope you can forgive me i said scratching the back of my neck. 

"NO WORRIES! WELL, I NEED TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE ELSE, I HOPE I'LL SEE YOU AROUND FUENTES-SAN" he said about to leave.

"Bye!" I said waving. I needed to speak with someone else as well. I went over to the half and half boy and saw Yoarashi about to speak with him.

"I"M INASA YAOROSHI, AN TO JUST WANTED TO SAY YOU DO AN INCRE-"

"your in my way." The boy said brushing past him with his stoic expression, leaving Yoarashi with a wide eyed face, with me included. I decided to do something that would impact the relationship I would have with this boy forever. For better or for worse only time could tell.

"Hey!" I yelled out to the boy. When he turned to face me his duel colored eyes cut deep into my soul, making me gasp teary eyed. Nevertheless, I persisted. "There's no reason you needed to be rude. He was just giving a compliment, something I was about to do as well. We all have our issues, but theres no reason to treat people so harshly because of that." I said my voice shaky a bit. Why did I just put myself in this situation. He walked my way. I shakily stood my ground. I bit my lip as he came very close inches away from my face with narrow eyes.

"you know absolutely nothing about me or what I'm like. stay in your place..." With those words something of a chuckle came out of me, along with a closed eyed smirk. 

"I think I know a little more than you think Shouto Todoroki" and with that i brushed my shoulder against his walking away towards the exit very satisfied with my response for once in my life. Although I couldnt see it, Todoroki stood there dazed, wide eyed.

'How the hell does she know my name'

It was quite simple really. I pieced it together on my way to see him. I knew I had seen the face somewhere, and that somewhere was in an interview at the #2 pro hero's estate a little while ago. If I'm been honest, I found one of his sons to be quite attractive so i did a little research and learned his name. That was all I really could find, but I guess it turned out useful in this moment. I'm surprised I didnt recognize him sooner, his features where quite unique. All I could see in my mind where the look in his eyes. He was hurt, a feeling I was quite familiar with...

Ya yeet. I havent updated in a while. Oh well. So yeah, this is only a flashback so uh, idk if this even counts as an update. so uh. later gamerz.
