[PREFACE]
"She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.One shade the more, one ray less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'ver her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet expressHow pure, how dear their dwelling place.
And on that cheek, and o'ver that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,But tells of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!"
— George Gordon, Lord Byron
[SUMMARY]
Selene Zhang is a firm believer in luck and fate, navigating her life according to whatever the mystics of the stars tell her and puts her trust in wishing on shooting stars. As a twenty-something working at an greeting card service and part-timing as a professional Matchmaker, all she wants this year is a peaceful night and stability in her life.
All that changes when she encounters a peculiar young woman seeking something out of her element, making a risk that doesn't come without consequences. Suddenly, she's unemployed and countless reporters swarm her apartment like sharks constantly, badgering her with questions she doesn't or want to have the answers to.
Resorting to a final alternative, she resolves to start back at Square One—again. As Selene tries to salvage her positivity and faith in the universe, it seems as though the storm will never let up. Can she live up to her name as the Princess of Positivity or will her darker past come back to consume her?
[AUTHOR'S NOTE]
Loosely based on Sorta Like a Rockstar by Matthew Quick. I love Amber Appleton no matter what you tell me.
I'm pretty serious about this story since it's so personal to me, so it'll be my main project. A Way to York and Take Off will be put on the back-burner, and updates for All the Stars will be more frequent (sporadic, but frequent).
(also brief disclaimer for romance reliant readers: expect the romance to come in much later. Like halfway through, later. Sorry about that! Warnings first so we don't have any riots.)
(also also, fuck wattpad's affinity to incorrectly space my poems christ)
Now, I'd like to introduce you guys to Selene Zhang.
