Getting into the passenger seat of his BMW, Colt looks over at me, staring as confusion hits him.
"Dakota?" he asks, eyeing my face suspiciously. "What's going on?"
"Can you just get me out of here?! I need to go. Please!" I ask, not even looking over at him.
I hated this position I was in. I damn near hated this man, but what choice did I have? I needed to get to Dane. Needed him to know I was sorry, that I loved him. Needed him to know I was totally and undeniably at fault for saying the hurtful things I said. I was unfortunately trapped here, stuck at a cabin of my own mistakes.
No one could drive that was already at the party. Everyone was plastered drunk. Gabby, Jaxon, and Asher had no idea I was even out here or that Dane had left. Colt, unfortunately, came at the right time. My knight in corny armor.
"Oh c'mon, I just got here, let's go inside, have some fun, take some shots." he says, blowing me off, pulling ahead to park.
"Please, I'm already drunk and I just have to get out of here! I need to leave!" I practically beg, looking into his eyes in all seriousness, wishing for a miracle. "Take me home?"
A creepy looking smile came over his face, one that if I had to guess, was pleasure in knowing I needed him in some way, some form.
"Alright, I'll get you out of here," he replies with another smirk.
Thank you, Jesus. Let's go.
Driving into town, I see Colt continuously gazing at me from the corner of my eye.
"Guess you should consider me your superman, huh? Being that I'm rescuing you from whatever you were trying to get away from," he comments.
He's grinning over at me, loving the fact that at this moment, I'm lost without him.
"Uh, yeah, I really do appreciate it," I reluctantly reply.
Driving the rest of the way in awkward silence, I cannot wait to get out of the close quarters I subjected myself to with him. Turning onto my street, he pulls up to the curb directly between my house and Dane's. I notice immediately that his truck is there.
He's home.
I turn to face Colt, about to thank him for the ride when he speaks before I get the chance.
"You know, you're the only girl who's ever turned me down," he says softly, looking down at his lap while his tongue runs across his bottom lip.
"Um, I'm sorry?"
I literally don't know how I'm supposed to respond to that after what happened between us at the bonfire party.
"Do you have any idea what that does to me?" he continues, dragging his eyes slowly up my body, and finally finding my gaze again.
He undoes his seatbelt, turning towards me. My pulse quickens as I become completely alert and aware of his whereabouts.
"What are you doing Colt?" I ask, putting my hands up, studying his moves, sensing his approach.
"It makes you my next conquest," he says smugly.
The way he speaks sends chills down my spine. He's a cold, heartless man with a vengeance. Getting what he thinks he deserves has him looking at me dangerously.
"Colt, no," I say sternly, pressing my hands to the chest that's now leaning into me. I literally can't back any further from him as my back is pressed against the door.
"You're such a tease, Dakota," he grins mischievously. "I never realized how exciting the chase can be."
His hand finds my knee as he slowly drags his fingers up to my thigh, the sensation so repulsive, I'm afraid to move. He begins moving in towards me, closer and closer, until his head is close to mine, trapping me against the glass.
