SILENCE

The silence was interrupted when he walked in. All she could do was look at him wide-eyed. Her screams and panicked voice was muffled with the gag-rag tied around her mouth to the back of her neck.  He just looked at her beautiful face and smiled. But not the kind you give to a loved one, but the kind that looks like, well, a psychotic one. He reached into his jacket and pulled out one single key. Who knew what it opens. She so desperately wanted to grab the key away from him, but her hands were bound together with a rope and so were her legs. She was tied on to a chair so it made no use struggling about. He held up the key like a trophy. A proud smile on his face. “Darling…” he began walking around her, “you do know why you’re here, right?” She just tried to scream more but, at last, she couldn’t be heard. He just chuckled at her expression and walked towards another door. He put the key in and turned it until he heard the satisfying ‘click’. He grinned and opened the door revealing a whole closet full of blade. Each one with a different blade pattern and different size. “I wonder,” he began very slowly pulling out a butterfly knife and twirling it. By now tears were streaming down her face as she wiggled about trying to find some way to get out of here. “Do you remember when you tried that sneak attack on me? ‘Cause I do.” He walked closer to her and ran the knife along her arm agonizingly slowly. “It feels like it was only just an hour ago! Oh wait!” he paused lifting the knife in the air just a centimetre above her skin, “it was just an hour ago!” She cried even more trying to catch her breath. “Now you will pay for that.” He whispered in her ear pressing the blade to her skin drawing blood from her as she squeezed her eyes shut in pain as her chocked sobs filled the air. He slid the blade from her shoulder to her wrist. Going deeper and slower every second. Her whole right arm was covered in blood as she frantically looked around the room trying to avoid eye contact. “I never planned to do this to you, but, well, all things do happen for a reason.” He then lifted his hands and continuously stabbed her on her back until her body laid limp on the chair. Her body was covered in blood as she tried to breathe. All his anger was taken out with each swing. When he was done, he came in front of her and lifted up her chin with his index finger and said, “Open your eyes sweetheart, I wanna see your beautiful brown eyes.” When she didn’t obliged, he grabbed her hair and yelled, “Open your eyes you stupid woman!” when she did, he raised her head and slit her throat with one slice. When he was done, he stepped back and looked at his artwork with a satisfied nod. He walked over to the sink and washed the knife clean together with his hands that were covered in blood. He patted them dry and put back the knife in the closet. He took one last look and walked out the door with a lopsided grin on his face.
