Oh my gosh. Tia's face when she finally learned that Luna was running against her. Talk about priceless. Tia actually thinks that she will win. Talk about conceited. And Lisa seemed pretty happy about her mom finally packing lunch for her. My thoughts were it interrupted by a certain annoying voice.

“Lexie? I know you're friends with Luna and all, but can you make sure she doesn't win against me? This is really important to me and I don't want to be the loser. This is for me to impress my dad and he... Well... You know, ” Tia said. And I did know. Her dad didn't like her very much. He says she's a “disgrace to the family”. I know you're thinking, why do you know all this? Well, Tia and I used to be best friends. She, Lisa, Luna, and I were like sisters. We told each other everything. We meant the world to each other.  But, like most people, she turned against us and left the group.

“No,” I said.

“What?” she practically screeched. “You know this is important to me!”

“I know. But I won't help you beat my best friend,” I said.

“But what happened to me?” she asked.

“You aren't my best friend anymore,” I said through gritted teeth.

"Then what am I?" she challenged.

"A jumbo sized orange crayon," I shot back.

“Ugh. I don't have time for this,” she huffed. “You will regret this,” she said before flipping her hair and sashaying off.

*********

“I can't believe the fucking nerve of her,” Lisa hissed, stabbing her ramen.

“Lisa, please don't hurt the poor ramen,” Luna said, eyeing the ramen.

“Luna, if you're so hungry, then go get your lunch!” I said.

“I can't,” she moaned.

“Why?” I asked.

“Cuz I need to hear more about this and I need to decide what to do about this,” she said.

“Well,” Lisa said, thoughtfully, “we can go to that expensive ice cream place sfter school to discuss this.”

“What place?” Luna asked.

“I forgot the name,” Lisa mumbled, trying to remember.

“Is it the Mr. And Mrs. Miscellaneous place?” I asked.

“Yes! That's what it's called!” Lisa shouted, smiling triumphantly.

“But that place is near downtown!” I whined.

“Oh, boo hoo, ” Luna said. “Its not my fault that San Francisco isn't a small rural town.”

“Well, we have to go after volleyball practice, ” I sighed.

“Yay!” Lisa and Luna yelled.

Just then, Tia walked up to our table.

“Hey guys. Um, coach wants me to tell you that our first game is next Friday. It's a home game,” Tia said, glaring at Luna and Lisa. She can never get over the fact that they didn't "steal" me away from them. I chose the fact to be with them.

“Yeah!” we all shouted.

“Wait a minute,” Lisa said, checking her phone, “The game is the exact time as my art class!”

“Well, all last year you skipped art class, so I don't know why you can't so it this year,” Tia scoffed, rolling her eyes.

“If I have to skip art class, then you have to actually fuckin' listen to coach and not swing your arms this year,” Lisa challenged.

“I do not swing my arms,” Tia scoffed.

“Yes you do,” Luna piped up.

“I do not,” Tia hissed.

“Yes you do. The coach has been telling you to stop swinging your arms sixth grade, seventh grade, eighth grade, ninth grade, tenth grade, and she will probably do the same this year,” I said.

“I do not fricking swing my arms,” Tia hissed. Her face became a bright red. Either she was getting angry, embarrassed, or a little bit of both.

“Yes you do,” Luna said. “I don't even see who let you on the team. You can't even serve overhand. Maybe the caoches pitied you,” Luna smirked.

“Ugh, I am waisting my precious time here,” Tia scoffed. She flipped her hair over her shoulder and sashayed off.

We all sighed in relief.

“So, who do you guys have for the science project?“ Luna asked.

“I have Aaron,” Lisa muttered, clutching her chopsticks. Then her eyes got all dreamy. “And I have Austin,” she sighed.

“Oh la la,” Luna and I said at the same time. She and I have been the romantic ones in our little group.

“I have Xavier and this girl named Darcy in my group,” I said.

“Darcy?” Lisa immediately asked.

Luna gasped. “You have Xavier in your group? ” she squealed. “You and Lisa both have your crushes in you group!”

Well, now you know who I have a crush on. You can't blame me. He has sandy hair, blue eyes, and a healthy tan. Sometimes, I really obsess over this boy.

“Darcy?” Lisa asked again.

“I have no idea who she is,” I muttered, trying to think of any Darcy in my science class.

“Oh that's it,” I said, suddenly remembering. “Darcy is that girl with nerd glasses that always sits next to the teachers desk.”

“Oh yeah!” Luna exclaimed. Lisa's face was sullen.

“What's wrong?” Luna asked.

“She’s the one who trashed our religion project in seventh grade,” she muttered. She still held on to this. As you know, she is a really good artist. For the project, we had to depict a scene from the Bible. Her group chose the parting of the Red Sea from the story of Moses. Lisa, as usual, did all the drawing. Darcy was also a pretty good artist. At lunch, Lisa would always complain about her group because it was full of people she didn't like. Lisa and Andrew, the other person in her group, hated Darcy because she was mean, bossy, and annoying. They both said some pretty mean things when they were texting each other. Unfortunately, Darcy knew the password to Lisa's phone. She read all the texts. So, when it was her turn to bring the poster home, she scribbled all over it like a little child. To make the story short, the group got a bad grade, Darcy kept playing mean tricks on her, and now Lisa hates her guts.

After the last period bell rang, I went to my locker, seeing someone there. It was probably someone talking to Tia, because, sadly, her locker is right next to mine. As I walked toward my locker, I saw Xavier there. My stomach did a bunch of summersaults. What is he doing there? I got to my locker with a bunch of butterflies in my stomach.

“Hey, Xavier,” I said, trying hard to keep my cool.

“Hey Lexie! I've been wanting to talk to you," he said.

“Well, okay. You have this weird smile and it's creeping me out,” I said with a laugh.

“This is my 'I'm so happy I'm gonna burst' smile,” he said.

“Well, why are you so happy? ” I asked, suddenly feeling nervous again.

“Well, I'm gonna ask the girl of my dreams out tomorrow,” he said with a dreamy look.

“That girl must be lucky,” I hissed under my breath.

“Hm?” he asked.

“Nothing,” I muttered.

I really hope that girl is me.
