Outfit 1

Just like every other type of lolita, a hime lolita outfit has different parts to it!

This will be part 1, which will just be focused on the parts of a lolita outfit in general rather than specifically hime lolita!

Outerwear refers to jackets, hoodies, coats, pullovers, etc. Anything that you wear over top the outfit that isn't jewelry or hats.

There are certain outerwear you want to avoid, as it would take away the "lolita" style from the outfit.

People who have been making lolita outfits for years might be able to pull off a lolita outfit with anything in the "no" section, but for beginners it's best to stick to a guide!

The type of shirt you wear in a lolita outfit is called a blouse. A rounded, high-collar is best as well as loose-fitting, puffy sleeves. Blouses are usually plain with very minimal patterns if any.

Cutsews are like regular shirts, but are sewn and styled like a blouse. They usually have ruffled sleeves, lace, and bows.

Lolita skirts should start at your waist (at your bellybutton) and only be as short as 2 inches above your knees. Avoid miniskirts and pleated skirts! Lolita skirts almost are always A-Line or Bell shaped!

Mary-Janes, Rockinghorse shoes, and Ballet shoes are all common shoes to wear with a lolita outfit! Boots are acceptable, but hard to find.

Heels are said to avoid, but I've seen some girls pull off heals on a lolita outfit, especially with something as fancy as hime lolita.

Don't want a skirt? Don't worry, pants are also optional!

Frilly, poofy bloomers or loose-fitting, knee-length trousers are also an option.

🐁  be careful if you want to wear a corset! Don't wear it too tight, for too long, and remember you don't have to wear one if you don't want to!

🐁 stockings should be over the knee or full out tights

🐁 a petticoat must be worn in order to to make your skirt poof out! Here's what a petticoat looks like:

you wear it beneath your skirt!

🐁 don't wear a square dance petticoat, get a higher quality one or wear some fluffy bloomers

Dresses, wigs, and accessories are also a part of a lolita outfit! We'll learn more about what accessories to look for later, and the skirt shape applies to the dress as well.
