TOW New Beginnings

Part 16

The last week had been amazing as they had been traveling all over Europe from seeing all the sights like Big Ben in the UK to vineyards of France and the beaches of Spain to the amazing food it had been a relaxing and rejuvenating trip with just the two of them. They were currently in Berlin Germany taking in the sights as they walked around after a day in the town.

Rachel's phone buzzed and she looked at it as Steve's named appeared across the screen. The message read Hey Rachel hope your having a good time, do you have a few minutes to talk?

She was just about to respond when Ross taking a break from taking pictures lectured her "Hey Rach were on vacation whatever it is about work or what your manager... Steve says can wait, look around we are almost at the Freie University" he said looking at Rachel's phone

"Your right Ross, I'll deal with it later" she said putting her phone away, she was enjoying the trip, but she was tired of Ross always telling her what to do like she was his maid.

As they went on a tour of the university which Rachel mostly tuned out, they went to dinner at a schnitzel house and had some beer and wine as was customary in Germany.

"These last few weeks have been a lot of fun it's going to be hard to go back to work" Rachel said soaking in the environment around them and enjoying the music that was playing

Ross perked up and smiled a little "I am so glad you said that Rach, The reason that I took you on a tour of the university is not only was it fun and entertaining but they have offered me a job there as the head of the paleontology department as well as a large research budget. It's a gamechanger Rachel I can actually travel and go dig dinosaur bones worldwide and advance the field overall. It's a huge opportunity!" the excitement seeping through his voice as he put his hand over her arm and squeezed it to show his excitement with a big smile across his face

Typical fucking Ross it's all about him she thought as she bit her lip and let out a weak smile to show her happiness for him. "Is it full time or just... temporary?" she asked a little nervous to find out the answer

"It's full time permanent position, I've even been learning German and looked up some schools for the kids. Think about it all this culture and history of Europe at our doorstep. I've already accepted it and handed in my resignation at NYU" he said putting his beer class

He didn't even consult me, he thought he could just charm me and drag me to Europe on his little adventure. "Wow, congratulations" she said clinking her glass with Ross's. Just pull it together until dinner's over no need for a scene. We'll discuss it back at the hotel, shit I just got a job at Nordstrom as head designer.

The rest of the dinner went well as they went into the safe topic talking about their last time in Europe for the wedding and letting the nostalgia of happier times carry the way through dinner

As they got back to the hotel and pretended that there was no elephant in the room until they got into bed and turned on the TV.

"Don't worry there's free German class's and a huge expat community you'll make friends in no time" he said giving her a hug

"That's not what I'm worried about, what about the kids we can't just take them out of school with all their friends and move them half way across the world" she protested

"Well technically it's a quarter of the way across the world and they're kids they'll adjust, and they'll think of it as an adventure especially since they are younger and not entrenched in the teenage years, it's the best time" he said

Always correcting me half way or a quarter way who cares it's the fucking same "That may be true but what about our families, our friends?"
