This felt like an unsettling game of tag. The way these to two boys nearly wrestled around her. Clawing, biting, and scratching at each others throats. It was utterly tiring. With the addition of the girl's mind-numbing feelings for the two, it only add to the problem.

The air was think, harsh, with the unspoken words of each other. With the twist of a wrist or a flick of a foot, the two starred down each other. And undefinable war raged through them. The anger corded through their veins and envy was shot through the eyes. Their bare hands sought to reek havoc on each others' faces.

"Pie anyone?" Fiona cleared her throat.

The poor girl had no idea that this war had nearly started because of her existence; and by damn it would end with her. However, the two knew it was hush hush to speak about the real reward to her, the slight notice of it would set her over the edge. For now, the simply just hated each other.

"Yeah, I'll have a piece." Marshall glided over to her. Cutting himself a slice.

Gumball shook his head. "No thank you."

Marshall muttered something unsettling (I'm sure) about the prince.

"What was that?" Gumball crossed his arms, jutting his ear closer to the vampire.

The boy shrugged, stuffing the pie down his throat. "Oh nothing."

"You actually ate it?" Fiona asked, wiping off the crust from the corners of his mouth.

"Yeah, I can actually eat, you know."

Fiona nodded, placing the pie in the fridge. The stove dinged and she pulled out the warm muffins from it. Tiring off the stove she let them sit out to cool.

"You made muffins, too? How long was I sleeping?"

"Too long." Fiona muttered mostly to herself. However, it was picked up by the vampire super-sonic hearing.

Marshall shot Gumball a death glare, the prince didn't know what for.

"Anyways, Fi." Marshall asked over the awkward silence.

The nickname he had given her made her feel slightly unsettled. The way Gumball had used it made her feel differently, and the fact Marshall Lee was completely oblivious to it all made it hurt even more.

"We gotta go." He nodded. Fiona did the same.

Gumball gritted his teeth without a word. He said his goodbyes and left the too with a slightly angered slam of the door.

"He ok?" Marshall asked.

Fiona stayed silent. She was running over everything that had just happened in her mind. She couldn't help but wonder what the boy's goal was, and ... If she'd let him.

"Fi!" Marshall snapped her out of her trance.

"Ugh... Yeah??" The blonde asked lightly, glancing down at her feet.

The vampire encroached her space, taking over her lonely bubble for himself. "Hey?"

She looked up at him. Her blue eyes spread across his red ones. "Yeah?" Fiona waited for an answer.

"Is anything going on between you two?" He was serious; dead serious.

Fiona chocked. "N-no, nothing is going on." Staring down back at her feet, she hoped he would just drop it.

Of course, he didn't. "What happened."

"Nothing," She looked back up at him. "He's just... Acting strange."

"How so?" Marshall took over her space even more. She was used to it and didn't more an inch.

"He just... He's different, that's all."

Part of her wanted to lay down everything that had happened, just be frank. She knew how he would take it, and part of her didn't care. The other part however, did. If he spilled to Marshall he would ring out Gumball's neck. And she didn't want that. She wanted peace, but she knew she wouldn't get it.

Maybe a big factor of why she wanted to protect Gumball was because of the attention he had brought to her. She didn't want to sound selfish, and Fiona was far from it, but she couldn't help but almost enjoy herself.

A boy who she had nearly loved for year had finally gave her some feelings back, only after she had dropped her's made her feel important. It was dumb to say, and she knew it, but she couldn't help it. It gave her a bigger confidence that made her warm inside. Just the thought of somebody else caring for you (other than her cat sister) made it exciting.

In addition to Gumball, Fiona was well aware of Marshall and his flirtatious ways. But he had always been like that. Maybe that's what made her put off having feelings towards the vampire, or at least mask them.

It may had been greedy to think about, but Fiona couldn't help but take in all the love that was given to her. Deep down, under all that silly adventuress ways, lay a heart that just wanted love. Being the only (known) human in all of Aaa made any person feel a little left out. In addition to finding a partner, the pickings were slim.

So maybe, just maybe, Fiona only really wanted somebody to love her. So she really didn't care if she got some romantic attention, wen if she knew it was all some game. Because that's what she wanted; love. Real or not, she could fake it until she got it. And who knew when she would get it.

With Fiona thinking to herself about how sad her life actually was, she failed to notice the Marshall was talking to her.

"What?" Fiona asked the boy.

He turned to her and frowned. "Ugh, never mind. You weren't listening."

"Oh, sorry." The blonde apologized in a low tone.

"Hey," Marshall nudge her with his elbow. "You ok?"

"Umm, yeah. I'm just kinda tired. Do you think we could hang tomorrow, I kinda wanna be alone the rest of the day."

Marshall the sadness well up in her eyes. She was lying; poorly.

His brows furrowed together, shaking his head he replied. "You're not ok, and I'm got to stay here, with you. Ok?"

She nodded, bring herself into his arms. The tears bellowed at her lashes, slowly pooling down her face in wet streams. A girl was a fragile and delicate being. They aren't easy to impress, but fairly easy to break.

Clinging onto his cold, hard skin, Fiona cried into Marshall's chest. He pulled her in closer and floated her over to the couch, where she lay onto of him cover in a blanket.

Marshall wasn't sure what exactly set her off, but he was certain it had to do with that gummy Prince that happened to leave not too long ago. He was partially right. If only he knew that he was also doing damage to the poor girl as well.

What Fiona wanted most was slowly eating away at her, and it wouldn't take long for her to figure it out. By now, she probably already has. She would need to do something, but she didn't know what. This want, no, need for true love and affection was going to end up destroying her if it was only going to be filled with unattainable desires and selfless romantic flings. This wasn't what she wanted, even if she kept telling herself it was.

Who knows how long it would take the others to notice, and change their ways. Or perhaps they would keep using her for their own selfish game of tag.
