Elemental

Ch 2

As we sit and talk I drift off into my own mind and think. What did my mother mean earlier? I'm so confused but if she didn't want me to know what it was then it must be important.
As I sit, I watch Thames, Aura and Eban mess around. Thames showing us his gills by splashing water on his face, Aura making a mini tornado around her feet and Eban turning his arms into solid rocks.
I say to everyone, " hey look guys, my leaves are staring to change again!"
Aura says, " I find that so fascinating. I wish I had something cool like that."
But what Aura has is better than my stupid leaves. She has beauty and a kindness to her. All the boys like her. And all I have is leaves around my ankles.
I look away and just reply, " oh, yea..."
Aura and Thames start laughing at something I didn't pay attention to, to know. That's when Eban came up to me and sat next to me. He says, " hey bud, what's wrong?" I look at him, into his deep hazel eyes. Eban is a cute kid, but no girl really notices because he the type of guy that is just people's friend, not boyfriend. Eban is quiet but a nice guy to talk to. So I say, " nothing really, my mom said something strange to me earlier and I don't know what it's about."
He replies, " well don't think about it too hard, you will only stress out your pretty little head about it." That made me smile. He thinks I'm pretty? No, he was just trying to be a good friend. Why would I even think that way. I
So I force another smile and change the subject. " so how's life as a rock?" He replies with a smile, " it's just grand, I love having people think I'm just a dumb piece of Rock."
I say, " well I don't think your dumb"
He smiles at me and I smile back. We make eye contact for a little. I feel a warm sensation I've never felt before and just keep smiling and staring at him. Then I look away and look at Aura and Thames messing around, it makes me realize I have the best friends in all of Terra. Nothing can bring us down and we will stick together no matter what.
That's when Aura looks at me with a worried face and points out the window. I say, " what's wrong Aura?". I have a worried tone. She just sits and stares.
I look out the window and fall silent.

" What the elements is that?", Thames asks.

"Whoever they are, whatever they want. It doesn't seem good", I say. Everyone nods their heads and stares.
