"You're on in five, Marina." The busy manager shouted over his shoulder as his clipboard swung by his side, the papers clipped unto it briskly brushing against his swishing khakis. The blonde with dark roots just nodded and sighed out an 'okay' in response, before plopping down dejectedly into a comfy black leather cinema-styled chair.
"My name is Marina Diamandis. I am 23 years...young. I am a singer--no. I am a famous singer." She smiled fondly at her external musings, content with the fact that she actually made it. That she was actually going to perform a Chateau Marmont, headlining and trending on social medias. It was a dream that she held close to her heart since a fairly young age, and now it was unfolding into her reality.
But sometimes dreams turn into nightmares...
"And now, what you've all been waiting for, our headlining performer, queen of popculture....Marina And The Diamonds!" The broadcaster's voice boomed into the air, the sheer volume vibrating her bones. Her heart began to pick up its pace, and she felt as if Travis Barker was playing a drum solo beneath her rib cage.
Deep breaths. Easy Marina. Everything is okay now. The world is your's now.
The singer wore a triumphant grin as she mounted the stage, the atmosphere thick with opening applause. Her chin was held high as she took confident strides to the mic center stage. This is it babe. She began her song, "Primadonna" but not before catching a whiff of the most pleasant scent she had ever experienced. It was calming and helped her let down her walls to perform one of the most astounding and raw performances in all of her career.
When the song was done and the musicians switched to the next instrumental, Marina breathed in deeply. It was coming from the crowd, an audience member perhaps. All that she was aware of was that the scent stirred up emotions inside of her that she didn't know she possessed. Someway, somehow, it inspired her. She may have the world, but she felt incomplete without the knowledge of the smell's source.
