Nanako's POV
I cover my eyes from the bright light while getting out of the car. The driver helps me to get my stuff out and quickly speeds away. I didn't care for the driver much, but it was nice to talk to someone, if only for a little while. You see I'm not really the most social person out there. I was generally alone as a child and growing up. I'm 16 now, not too old, but obviously no longer a child. My full name is Nanako Hinata Shinotani. I am different than most people. I am not a mortal, but let's get back to the story shall we?
I grab my bags and head up to the door. A beautiful building is in front of me. Of course people have started rumors that this is a home for the rich and famous, if I had not already known who is chosen to live here I would think so as well. I go through the doors and am invited in by a beautiful fragrence. It smells like my mother's old rose garden that I would play in as a young girl. I avoid people as much as possible and make my way to the elevator. Once inside I let out a sigh of relief. Finally, I can just go into my new apartment and just relax. The doors suddenly open to a floor that I did not choose. Someone must've pressed the button. I consider hiding within the shadows around me, but what would be the point? I can't hide my bags too, so I guess I will just have to brave it out.
In front of my I see a small girl with dark hair and eyes, wearing what I can guess is a highschool uniform. And with her is a tall man with blonde hair and two colored eyes with a bright smile on his face. Oh dear. I look down at the ground trying to hide my face behind my silver/white hair. "Hello!" I hear the man say, "My name is Soushi Miketsukami and this is Miss Ririchiyo." I nod at them in responce still avoiding eye contact. Please don't make me say anything, I am awful at these kind of things. "Are you a new resident miss? What shall I call you?"
Great, thanks, now I have to speak. "Y-yes I j-just moved h-here," I manage to stutter out, "m-my name is N-nanako. It is n-nice t-to meet you." Ugh! just talk like a normal person Nanako! Stop being so scared all the time! Now they are going to think you are a weirdo or something, which isn't entirely untrue but still.
"I suppose you would like me to say it is nice to meet you too," the young girl named Ririchiyo says.
"No, that's fine no need if you wouldn't be telling the truth." I respond giving her a little smile revealing my icy blue eyes. I move my bags so that they can get on and we all talk for a little while as I wait for the elevator to finally reach my floor. It wasn't a very deep conversation, just normal ice breaker questions to get to know each other at least a little bit. However, I soon reach my floor and leave knowing that I will always just be an outcast and nothing can change that. Everyone will just try to be polite but deep down they truly won't care. That is my fate. No escaping it.
I make it into my apartment. It is huge, and very modern. It was already furnished so all I needed were some of the things that I needed like clothes and other things to make it all feel like home. I breath out heavily and plop myself down on the couch in front of a large television. I look at my phone hoping to find a message from my older sister. Naturally there isn't one, we haven't talked in years, but for some reason I keep hoping that she didn't forget about me. I turn on some music and read for a few hours skipping dinner. I'm not really hungry and I really want to avoid unpacking for at least a little longer. I look out the large windows that cover all the walls that do not face the building as see the beautiful night sky. My eyes grow heavy and slowly close as I fall asleep.
I wake up and the sun has risen fairly high in the sky already. I look at a clock and see the time is 11 am. Wow, I need to change clothes. I look down and see that I'm still wearing my red flannel and black dress from yesterday. Digging through my bags and boxes I finally find my clothes. I throw on a large black sweater, denim shorts, and black thigh-high socks. I look in a mirror and sigh disapprovingly at my apperance. Oh well, nothing that can be helped. My stomach growls and I decide to attempt going down to the lounge. Hopefully everyone is gone doing their daily tasks by now. I open the door to leave and to my suprise there is a tall boy grinning in front of me. I jup back in suprise. He has green eyes and brown hair. "Hello Miss Nanako! My name is Adrian, and I am you body guard."
"Oh, I thought that was optional," I reply nervously.
"Oh dear. I'm sorry it seems I have startled you. Please forgive me. I am your guard and will protect you when you need me."
"T-thanks but I didn't really ask you to do that."
"Oh but I do. It seems that you would like me to leave you now. If you need anything let me know. I'm sorry to have bothered you Miss Nanako."
"You didn't bother me but please just call me Nanako." He nods in reply and I hurry to the elevator before he can change his mind. One point for being insane. Nice job Nanako. I get into the elevator and thankfully there are no more unexpected stops this time and it takes me straight to the bottom floor.
