Immortality: Boon or bane?

Immorality is defined as the inability to die. From ancient times people have sought after Immortality. Especially in Hindu mythology, we've heard many stories about a man seeking immortality either by meditating and praying to the gods or by sacrificing many humans with specific qualities. If a Genie was to grant a wish to 100 people in the world, then most people would wish for wealth, being the strongest or the most powerful and, of course, immortality. But is immortality worth the wish that the Genie granted to you?

Being immortal sounds great. As death is one of the most feared phenomenon in the world, it isn't surprising that most people wants to be immortal. When you're immortal, you will have the time to do everything you'd ever want. You'd be able to experience all sort of things in life. You would be able to experience all sort of changes the world would go through. And of course, you would never die.

But there are always two sides to the same coin. When you're immortal, you wouldn't want to grow close to anybody, as you will see everyone around you die. Everyone you care about would be dead, but you would be alive. Sooner or later, everyone who you knew would disappear from your life forever. And you might not like the change that the world around is going through. The nostalgia of people who you were close with and what the world was like would cause a lot of emotional pain. And what would you do after you have done everything you want? Obviously human behaviour and desire changes through time, but once you're immortal, you are not a  human being anymore.  You would just find living more like a curse than a boon. And what if you see the world end? Not only everyone around you would be dead and you won't be able to meet any new person anymore, but you would also be left stranded all alone in the space, living painfully with nothing around you, waiting for death to take you. But it will never come. The pain will never end. And you would just be living doing nothing forever, and you wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

So, at the conclusion what I'd like to say is that immortality is not the greatest boon of all but is one of the worst curse of all. So I'd rather ask the Genie to eradicate diseases like cancer instead of asking for immortality.

I'd like to conclude my speech here. Thank you and have a great day.
