'Mother' is a 2009 South Korean Flim produced by CJ Entertainment, directed by Bong Joon-Ho and music by Lee Byun-Woo. The movie stars Kim Hye-Ja as the un-named widowed mother and Won Bin as Do-Joon, the son.

The movie follows mother, who lives in a small town while conducting unlicensed acupuncture to support her and her 27-year-old intellectually disabled son, Do-Joon. Even though Do-Joon is shy, he doesn't hesitate to fight people who mock his disability.

One day, Do-Joon is arrested for being a prime suspect for murdering a high-school student, Moon Ah-Jung, who was found dead on the rooftop of an abandoned building. He is then tricked into confessing the murder. His mother is outraged, saying that his son is innocent and wouldn't commit such a crime. Do-Joon is convicted for murder and is sentenced to 17 years in prison. His mother, however, wouldn't give up on proving her son's innocence, especially after her son's best friend, Jin Tae, tells her that she shouldn't trust anyone, and should investigate the case by herself, as Ah-Jung's body was found on a place where everyone in the town could see it. Taking Jin-Tae's advice, the mother starts to investigate the case by herself, and finds out disturbing truths about Ah-Jung's past and a horrifying truth about her murder.

In the movie, there's only one goal of the mother, to prove her son's innocence and make things go back to normal. But we all know that things will never be normal for the mother after her son is convicted.

'Mother' is another masterpiece by Bong Joon-Ho, which shows us how far a mother is willing to go to prove that her child's innocence. It is a typical Bong Joon-Ho movie with many twists and turns but is very different in form of storytelling. It is very dark and has a little humour, unlike Bong Joon-Ho's most recent and most successful movie to date, 'Parasite', which is another masterpiece by Bong Joon-Ho. People say that he is one of the best directors of the 21st century, which is so true as he does a great job at telling a compelling story and inducing suspense and thriller in a lot of his movies, and 'Mother' is no exception. While you're watching movies by Bong Joon-Ho you feel an uneasiness and feel like it is not going to end well for the characters, which I felt by watching this movie. This movie is amazing and so is its director. But this movie, like 'Parasite',  kept me up at night for days. So, I'd like to advise people to not watch any of Bong Joon-Ho's movies at night.

I'd like to conclude my speech here, thank you, and have a good day.
