Cousins of a Wizard

chapter 3

I sat back down and took out my wand that I had put down my sleeve. While we were at the pet store I had found a neat brace for your forearm that would hold your wand.

I loved my wand. I don't know how they pick their wizards but I don't care.

"I'm taking a nap wake me up if anything interesting happens." Of course Kat was taking a nap she did wake up 10 minutes early.

I pulled out one of the books we bought and started reading it. There were a bunch of interesting spells, and potions. I went to the beginner pages first and tried a few. I managed to preform Lumos which produced a ball of light at the end of my wand.

I tried Lumos maxima which is just a bigger version and that ended up waking Kat. She was surprised and joined me in reading about spells.

Another was a levitation spell called 'Wingardium Leviosa' the pronunciation had to be very clear so it took a few tries. We both made a paper float since it had to be practiced on a light weight object.

I flipped threw the pages and found a creature-index. I was fascinated and read like there was no tomorrow.

Kat wasn't as interested and kept practicing the two spells since they were the easiest.

There were so many interesting animals who each had different abilities.

I was pulled from my reading when I heard a squeal. Kat had made her light a little to bright and it momentarily blinded her.

"Say Nox"

"Nox"

The light went out and my eyes adjusted to the now darker room.

I heard a knock at the door and went to see who it was. I looked through the peep hole and saw a big man taking up the view. I opened the door fully aware of who it was and smiled at Hagrid.

"Hello Hagrid, What brings you by?"

He stepped to the side to revival a short bow with over sized cloths and messy black hair.

"Well I thought I would introduce you three. This is your cousin Harry, I told him about you and he wanted to meet you. Well he's staying in the room across from yours. Well I'll be going. I should be here when you wake up."

Harry was standing there being awkward so I invited him in.

"Hello Harry, I'm your cousin Jaxien Evens and that's my twin Katrina. You can call us Jax and Kat. It's nice to meet you." I said holding out my hand.

He shook it in a kind of awkward way but I assume he didn't know we existed.

"It's nice to meet you as well, umm... I'm sorry I'm just super nervous."

He had big round glasses that were broken on the bridge and had to be connected with tape. If he was living with Aunt Petunia then they weren't taking very good care of him. The cloths he was wearing were big enough to fit a pot belly pig.

Kat stepped closer and look at him.

"Your ok, to be honest so am I. Well how about we start at the beginning. We are your cousins. Our Father is your uncle, he ran away from home at a young age so that's probably why you didn't know about us. He was still close with Aunty Lily your mom. And I'm guessing you take after your dad. You do have your moms eyes though."

I could see a small tear forming in his eye and I felt really bad. I walked up to him and gave the short boy a huge hug. Just met or not he needed one.

He was a little shocked but got over it quick and hugged back. Kat joined in soon after and we stayed there for a bit in a comfortable silence. Kat and I finally pulled back and we both smiled.
