Agent Carter An AU Series

Chapter 15

Peggy's POV: 

When I get back to the hotel, I change into my nightgown, pin my hair, and grab a few books. I need to do some research on the heart symbol that Leet Branis had drew before he died.  My eyes start to feel heavy as I flip through the pages, and then I hear a noise outside. I turn around and hear it again; someone is climbing up the building...I go over to my bag and grab my gun. When I get to the window, a man freezes in fear. 

"Clearly you don't know the rules of the house." I say, my gun pointed at his face. 

"Is this not apartment 3F?"

"Who are you?" I ask, my gun still raised. He says hes looking for his girlfriend Molly. "Next one over." I shut the window and leave him to climb over there. I sit back down on the bed and continue to do more research, but I find nothing. Ugh!.. I toss the books aside and la down to sleep; but not before looking at a little picture I have on my dresser. Its one I took of Daniel ans Stephanie. He was unaware that I found his camera and sneaked a picture as he was playing with her. These two make me so happy, I can't wait to see them tomorrow...And that is my last thought before falling asleep. When I wake I get dressed for the day and head downstairs to breakfast. 

"Powdered eggs again. What am I paying for?"Susan says, and Angie laughs.

"Still better than the blitz, right English?"

"Mm just barely." I reply. Molly strolls up behind me with her own plate of food and says good morning. "Someone had a late night." 

"What time the cat drag you in?" Susan asks. And Molly replies back. 

"Well I didn't exactly get dragged out..." Angie starts to get upset. 

"Molly you didn't!?" 

"What can I say? Jimmy is very persuasive." She blushes. 

"And nimble.." I mumble. Susan turns to me and asks if I have anyone in my life. Not expecting such I question, I hesitate. And then Daniel pops in my mind...but I can't really say anything about that. We haven't established what it is we started. "I'm afraid I'm married to my work at the moment." Angie retorts and asks about Daniel, but I say he's just a...colleague. "Good day ladies, early bird and all that." I say, quickly trying to leave before I'm asked anymore questions; however Ms. Fry stops me. She starts to make a speech and mentions none other than Houdini himself.  

"Oh no, Houdini. That's never good." Angie says. I look over at Ms. Fry as she continues to speak. She goes on bragging about how he did many tricks and accomplished many task, but there was one he could never do...ascend the stairs. I sense Molly move and look over at her; she's starting to get upset. 

"Its a very simple rule, ladies. No men above the first floor." Ms. Fry looks straight at Molly and speaks. "Molly Boniy. Please go to your room and pack you things. I hope you had a splendid evening because it will be your last at the Griffith." Molly leaves and Ms. Fry goes on explained that the building is impenetrable. And that's what gives me the idea...Howard's vault was said to be impenetrable as well... Now there's an idea. I head over to Howard's mansion and to visit Jarvis.I know my way around the property because I come here almost everyday to pick up and drop off my daughter. I peer through the window and wave, and then he exits the house. 

"In polite society, one usually calls before trespassing." 

"I'd imagine unwanted guest on this property is not an unusual occurrence." I say, and he hums in agreement. "My landlady gave me an idea. Someone robbed Howard's impenetrable vault. If I can find out how he got in then perhaps I can see where he went and locate the missing technology." He opens the door to another house and we walk in; descending a slight of stairs.
