The Nerd Leads the Mafia

Winner of 'Solo Namjoon' category

~

1. How did you come up with the idea for this story?

~How did I come up with the story? Well I always wanted to do something with the mafia and it was always a toss up between Namjoon and Taehyung. It wasn't until I had a dream about the base of the storyline. I know that sounds cheesy but that's how most of my story ideas come to life, through dreams. When I had the idea of the story, I couldn't stop thinking about it and had to write a first chapter. As soon as the first chapter was up, I kept coming up with more ideas and I was basically just writing word vomit, everything seemed to become a movie in my mind. I think I did a pretty good job of writing if I had won an award for it haha, though no one really says what they like about it I still write on because it's the first book that I am extremely proud of.

2. What was your favorite moment in this story?

~My personal favorite moment of the story would have to be a part that's not actually in the story. When I revealed that the leader of the mafia was actually the main character, my readers went crazy and I loved how they reacted to it. My favorite part of any story is getting feedback and those precious moments are motivation for me to keep writing. But if I had to choose an actual part on the book, it would have to be any time the main character does something badass, like killing someone or threatening someone. I think I write strongly and my words have so much meaning to me that they hit differently on the page than if they were said out loud, if that makes sense.

3. What advice do you have for anyone who hopes to write an award-winning story?

~My advice? Well, if you're passionate about what you write then you should write about whatever you want, regardless of what others think about it. If it's an award winning book to you, then that's all that matters. I wrote this book thinking that it was gonna be a flop but I kept writing because this is my award winning book, you know, before it won any awards. Keep staying true to your writing, you always have the potential to do something amazing, you just have to find that one thing that lights up your life to do it.
